This attempted change was meant to hurt Liz Cheney in a primary.

The republicans were trying to get Liz Cheney out of the 2022 election by requiring the winning candidate to receive more than 50% of the vote. If the candidate doesn't get that over 50% they wanted to have a runoff.

This ploy was used in the south to keep black people off the ballot. Now the republicans tried to get it to use on one of their own.

They failed.

Barely.

Interesting...same type of election rules are in the general election in Georgia.

If a candidate gets 50% of the vote and the opposing candidates get a mixture of percentages (i.e., 25%, 15%, 10%), then the one that received 50% has the clear majority and is the winner. However, if there were only two candidates and each candidate received 50%, then there must be a runoff or recount.

From what its advocates have posted in this message board, it seems to me that ranked voting is a better way to go then run-off elections anyways.

I think rank voting is a good idea.

I'm not sure why Ms. Cheney is still in the GOP anyhow. Her devotion to the libs, and the way she bent a knee to Sleepy Joe, she should really look to switch to "D".

Lookit the moonbats being piss bois for the neocons!!

Next thing you know, they'll be nominating Jebby!

Ms. Cheney is a Leftist. Nothing wrong with that, but don't you think its more proper for the broad to run as a "D" or an independent? You are acting as if its a "sin" for a Republican or a conservative to look for someone with their own beliefs on the ballot.
