Being a diabetic and a vegan, I find this guys YouTube channel pretty useful. I don't eat these a whole lot, but this week I've had one every day, among other things.

I was pretty sure, because of the high protein and healthy fats they wouldn't spike my blood sugar. They don't

Make sure and check the sodium level... some of that stuff is loaded with sodium...

Sometimes you gotta be careful with overly processed foods .I bet you that's full of poison seed oils and soy at the least

You could look it up and know for sure

I eat a ton of pumpkin seeds. They contain lots of fats (seed oil). Does that scare you?

Veggie burgers may get a bad rap for being "processed" but the ground up corpse you're eating was also processed, if you look at everything that happens before it gets to your plate.

Unpopular opinion, but I will never again eat a cow burger, now knowing what I know about what happens.... Plus, Beyond Burgers are actually amazingly good. Well, they were better before they recently changed the recipe slightly, but they're still really good.

As for being vegan...........I like mushroom patties.
Theres a few brands out there that use mushrooms, and plenty of home recipes you can find online.

Mushroom stakes are good, but expensive.

Have you ever made "ground beef" with mushrooms and walnuts? Doesn't sound good, but it actually works. Super healthy too

Good lord this thread makes me so hungry.

I been meaning to try to make my own burger patties with shrooms, but the meat grinder I bought was PAINTED with chrome spray and washed off the aluminum bits when I washed it before I was going to use it.

That turned me off to the whole idea now. So I returned it and got a refund.

I like to fry them in a little butter
Some seed oils are not all that good for you eating pumpkin seeds it's not the same thing as eating something with rapeseed oil in it or fried in it
How about drink some rapeseed oil

True, but at least it's possible to get ground round, that is locally produced, and devoid of the crap the big boys add to it.

Oh! That's what I do. (When on sale)
I started that after getting a Walmart tube of burger and making one, and it didn't have any taste.
The local ground round tastes fine and is mighty lean. Not sure what they're doing in Arkansas.
There's upcoming groups in America to combat the crap. There's a coalition or 2 of beef farmers out there.
They want to keep things natural and cut out the middlemen.
There's definitely a problem and the solution is in the works.
Possibly a meat-only nationwide chain with lowest prices.
More direct from farm to consumer.
