Best Exercises You Can Do

If it's written by a medical school, beware.

Exercise is just another drug that you must continue to take or it loses its effect. The 'high' you get from exercise is deceptive as the body can't maintain it without regular 'fixes' of more exercise (that few ever maintain). The best thing you can do for fitness and health is...nothing. By that I mean complete rest, inside an out. Few realize how tired out they actually are because they don't give their bodies the opportunity to tell them. The strength, energy, mental clarity and improved mood that complete rest provides cannot be matched by any exercise or diet program. Complete rest is the ultimate "self-help" method of improving the quality of your life without the riggamorrow of exercise and diet plans.

And it's not only free but saves you money as well.

You've just described the Houston Texan's offensive line.

Boy, I got some complete rest today, now I'm wide awake at midnight! Grawr!
Got all my stuff done early, had a couple beers with the fellers, came home and cooked something and ate and went down like a ton of bricks. Didn't realize I was that tired, but it was a lot more than a nap.

Saw this; wanted to share.

resistance exercise either Machines, free weights or body weight , is the best option out of the 5 listed .. if I could only do one of the 5 listed in the link resistance training "exercise" would be my choice .

AI Overview

Resistance training, also known as strength or weight training, is widely considered a highly beneficial form of exercise for overalhealth and well-being. It's not necessarily the best form of exercise for everyone, as optimal exercise choices depend on individual goals and preferences, but it offers a unique set of advantages that make it a crucial component of a well-rounded fitness routine.

Benefits of Resistance Training:

Resistance training is particularly effective for building and maintaining muscle mass, which naturally declines with age (sarcopenia). It also helps to increase bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.

Increased muscle mass from resistance training boosts your metabolism, meaning you burn more calories even at rest, which can aid in weight management.

Resistance training can improve cardiovascular health by lowering blood pressure, improving cholesterol levels, and reducing the risk of heart disease.

Resistance training improves functional strength, making everyday tasks like carrying groceries, climbing stairs, or gardening easier and safer.

Resistance training can improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance overall mental well-being.

Estimates are the 60 percent of Americans, including kids, are sleep deprived. Lots of 'asleep at the wheel' crashes as well. People falling asleep at their desks is common.

You are so goofy. Gym, walking, the park, weight training, swimming...

Stop it now.

Best plan for weight management is to not eat so much. Cheaper too. Also, very hard for women to increase muscle mass.

I agree. Exercise isn't sustainable for the majority. Rest is. Exercise is an attempt to force your body into a better condition. Rest is allowing your body into a better condition.

both rest and exercise are good for the mind and body .. do you think resting constantly and lying on the couch is better than exercise and getting 7 to 8 hrs sleep ..
