What planet does this man live on? I don’t know anybody who owns five homes let alone 10 or 12. I have owned five homes over a period of two decades but never all at one time.

You need a better circle of friends.

I know a few people who own 5 to 10 homes and then rents them out to others who have a hard time finding a good home. Does that make the renter a bad person?

I know people that own multiple homes.

It makes anyone associated with President Trump a bad person.

Actually, my nephew owns several homes as rental properties, but the point is, he is a small minority of people who do. This is not the way most people‘s parents are retiring. It’s a very bizarre comment for him to make and out of touch with everyday people

Bingo! Had a neighbor who had about half a dozen. Rented them. Decent homes in my area never go unrented. Once you get them paid for it’s all mailbox money. I bet he has 20 by now. Has several in one neighborhood and buys any that come on the market. Makes it easy to check on them.

Wife and daughter wanted a pool when she was in high school, so he sold one with enough equity to put one in.

Smart guy.

He said it was the norm? When?

Nah, that is pretty much a given (Bessent included), no matter how many homes they do or don't buy for rental property, to secure their retirement. I do understand what he is driving at, but the problem is not "mom and pops" or defining "mom and pops" and he knows it.

My God you can't be this stupid! he is talking about people buying investment real estate for rentals. Look who he was talking to!
