I found this video very interesting as it has been colorized, i looked at my Dads wartime diary and checked the date, i knew he had been with his army Unit at Belsen but in his diary he has an entry for the 23rd when the film was made so he could be one of those soldiers in the film, i will give a warning its brutal content is horrible, i have some still photos Dad brought home of the SS guards and some of them are in the video, first time i have been able to put names to the faces of those bastards.

This is where my uncle was held as a POW.

Interesting, where was your Uncle captured? an Uncle of mine was captured after the battle of Leros Greece, but he was lucky the Germans were transferring the captured British soldiers from the Island to the mainland when a British warship stopped the German boat and took the prisoners off, so he was lucky, also how long was your Uncle a POW?

That was a tough one we were up against the best motivated troops the Germans had, at the time my dad was stationed in Brussels with the British Guards Armoured Div just looked in his diary again Dads unit moved South from Brussels to the Ardenne and were there on the 27th December 1944, i think the bulk of the fighting was just about over a Month later, do you know the story about Joachim Peiper it is an interesting one, he was an officer in the 6th SS Panzer army in the Battle, i wouldn't have wanted to be taken prisoner by them, they were the ones who murdered US soldiers at Malmedy.
