You guys ready for the eventual nationalization of Western companies who operate in China?

Give the MSS credit. Perhaps the greatest successes in history, especially their work in California, New York and to a lesser extent D.C.

As an example of MSS insane success, imagine controlling 60% of the entire worlds production of EVs and convincing Western leaders to mandate the sale of these vehicles in their own economies. Could any Western intelligence agency convince China and Russia to demand the shift of purchases to a product the U.S produced 60% of worldwide?

Incredible bait and switch which was bound to occur once the communists felt their own power wouldn't work in a democracy. The same issue Gorbechev faced in the Soviet Union but he didn't have the benefit of trillions of Western dollars and million of their jobs.

Beijing has decided to freeze the properties of nine US military-related companies in China in response to American military assistance to Taiwan.

...............

It appears China has shown its stance that it has no intention to back down over the issue of Taiwan, which it views as being the center of its core interests

They did the same thing back in April to two different companies.

Perhaps our defense contractors should not have assets in China

What do you suppose the US response would be if China were selling weapons to Cuba?

I don't know, decrease the record trade imbalance with them by $20M or so. Oh, that will really hurt...

China would laugh. "We won't agree to buy anything from YOUR manufacturers. You aren't Trump. So we gladly accept the $20M decrease in our trade dominance of your country".

You make a good point, they were much higher under Trump minus the COVID year.

Right...comrade...right...
If you are going to invest your manufacturing base in a hostile country and benefiting from their slave labor practices then I will have little sympathy when your assets are devoured by the state.

No one forced them to make a Faustian bargain in the same way evangelicals have done with Trump.

US Trade Deficit Hit Nearly $1 Trillion in 2022, Largest on Record
The U.S. trade deficit hit a record of almost $1 trillion in 2022, with more than a third of the total coming from trade with China.

The annual goods and services trade deficit rose 12.2% to $948.1 billion, the Commerce Department reported Tuesday. The goods deficit jumped 9.3% to $1.19 trillion, while the services surplus declined 0.6% to $243.7 billion.1

Census.gov. "U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services, December and Annual 2022."

The deficit with China was the largest, climbing $29.4 billion to $382.9 billion. It was followed by the European Union (EU) at $203.9 billion, Mexico at $130.6 billion, and Vietnam at $116.1 billion. The U.S. recorded a trade surplus with South and Central America, totaling $76.2 billion, and the Netherlands at $38.3 billion.

Lol, this was a worry about out sourcing from the beginning. What was not forseen was the coming demographics issues. Many of the countries where our manufacturing is now based are about to under go a major loss of population. They simply won't have the manpower to run the factories. China is the second worse , Japan is the absolute worse. We know this problem exists. We know when the issues start. We are doing next to nothing to prepare for it. We have an estimated 35 trillions dollars infrastructure problem and are 35 trillion in debt all ready. Where the hell is the 35 trillion coming from to thwart the man power issues coming? We don't know. Gunna be real damn hard to get the products we need in the very near future.
