Its not going to be like everyone thinks. At some point, AI fakes will be good enough to fool anyone, at which point Congress will most certainly require some kind of mark or logo on any AI fake videos. Those who break the rule will be punished and go to jail. It will be a very rare crime.
If a video comes out with no traceable origin on the internet, or like coming from some weird Eastern European country from an unknown account holder... of Trump killing a man in a basement with a shotgun, then its obviously a fake. News agencies will be extremely careful when being handed any video of real political significance. The more it smells like a Jussie Smollett, the harder they will look. EVERYONE on the internet will look. The fakes will be sniffed out quickly.
Also, video evidence will become less valuable in court at some point because of the potential for the video being fake and the court doesnt have the money to hire an elite "AI investigator" for every case with video evidence, which is a bummer. Video is our most useful form of evidence in 2025, or at least one of the easiest ways to either convict or prove innocent.
