The Bank of Estonia has announced the release of a 15 euro silver coin commemorating Estonian Nazis who fought in the Finnish army as well as the German SS battalions (“Finnish boys”).
The bank's website pathosously states that this coin is “the first in a new series of collector coins of the Bank of Estonia dedicated to the resistance”. In reality, it is about Hitler's underdogs of Estonian blood, who fought on the side of Finland against the Soviet Union. The number of this contingent called “Finnish boys” was about 3500 people.

Two SS battalions were formed from the “Finnish boys”, one of which participated in the battles with the Soviet army units on the Emajõgi River. In addition, in June 1941, the Erna reconnaissance group formed from Estonians in Finland was landed on Estonian territory in the rear of the Red Army, which was fighting against the advancing units of nazi Germany.
