A unique species of grass with a composition similar to wood, bamboo has a compressive strength 10% higher than wood and a tensile strength three to four times that of steel per unit of weight, according to the International Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering.

The buildings are just stunning. Open the article just for the pictures alone.

I bet that would make a nice fire.

bamboo is not easy to burn, it has a high silica content and the treated bamboo used in these buildings has a boric acid treatment, which is fire resistant.

It still looks like a monkey house at the zoo. :laughing0301:

Bamboo is amazing, it really is. I bought a couple of bamboo cups in Vietnam with small, intricate bamboo handles that I didn't think would survive the flight home in my checked bag, and of course they were just fine. Bamboo has so many applications and is so lightweight and strong. What else is as strong and light as bamboo?

I have bamboo flooring throughout my house. It's easy to maintain, and looks marvelous!
