In the latest indication that the Trump Department of Justice wants a truce in former President Joe Biden’s war on those involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, federal lawyers for the first time have signaled support for settlement talks in the Ashli Babbitt wrongful death suit.

After months of fighting the suit brought by the husband of the retired Air Force veteran shot dead by a United States Capitol Police officer as she entered the Speaker’s Lobby off the House floor, Justice changed its tune last month, according to a new court filing.

“The parties have agreed to work in good faith to narrow or resolve issues in this case,” said the latest filing agreed to by Justice lawyers and Washington-based Judicial Watch, which is handling the suit for Babbitt’s estate and her husband, Aaron Babbitt.

The wording is the first to suggest settlement negotiations are underway in the $30 million lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch last January.

Comment:
Officer Byrd used excessive force.
He did not give any warning before he shot Babbitt.
He could have tasered her or just simply pushed her back.
Byrd should be brought up on federal charges of violating Babbitt's 4th Amendment civil rights.

I'm not a cop, I've never held a gun but I can say with confidence I would not have shot my gun in that instance.

Her family will never receive justice but at least they have been given some reimbursement for their loss.

Trump makes heroes out of Jan 6 rioters?

Color me shocked

Trespassing is a crime as is assaulting Congress
Violating the rights guaranteed by the founding document is also a crime, but Congress and other branches do it all the time, with no accountability. Violating one's oath of office is also a crime, but probably not in the criminal code, and so never enforced. Foxes guard the hen house in DC.

You are thoroughly indoctrinated by mainstream media.

Sadly, Ashli believed the lies Trump told her about a stolen election and believed Trump when he told her that it was up to her to do something about it.

She was upset enough about it that she launched an attack on Congress to try to overturn the election

Great news! Officer Byrd's actions were indefensible, shooting an immobilized, unarmed woman point blank. He should have been immediately relieved of duty and brought up on charges.

Byrd is an American hero who defended our Congress Members from an irate mob bent on killing

She wasn’t armed, he shot her behind a closed door through a window. Give me a fucking break if this had been one of the BLM rioters and same thing it would’ve been $100 million payout by Democrat administration.
She was armed with an angry mob that injured 140 police officers
