With many new EV's having driving range that the public deems unsatisfactory (e.g., VW ID-Buzz), I wonder if anyone is developing advanced batteries that could replace factory batteries, but with much greater range?

Is there any real breakthrough technology waiting in the wings? I see the occasional headlines, but they all seem like phony claims.

Yes, 12V Lithium or LiPo batteries can be had now that are better than lead/acid ones.

Look to China. Of course in the land of the free, we aren’t allowed to buy Chinese EVs. What a country!

We should steal their EV tech.
I suspect the Chinese are far more protective of the technology they develop. In America, capitalists and politicians are easily bribed. Plus they face no consequences. In China, they’d likely be executed.

Didn’t the Clinton’s give China missile technology decades ago?

OTOH, Chinese people are not above selling toxic poison to toddlers, using lead paint in toys and selling exploding bomb tires.

If someone there can make a quick buck selling a few EV secrets, I have no doubt they would do so in a heartbeat.
