Sadly, a lot of people are being spooked by all the hysteria over ICE raids at schools and such. Level-headed people don't expect any such thing to happen, but some people scare easily. Attendance at schools in the Boston area is down considerably since the election in November.

Interesting. I live in a pretty diverse area and none of that is happening here. Its business as usual in schools.

I did a search for ICE raids schools and found this

How can the schools sue when ICE raided apartment buildings? Don't they need ICE to raid a school before they sue?

They're afraid anywhere where they gather, ICE may come in and snatch them up.

Why would an undocumented kid go to school here? He can't get a job after he graduates. And does he have a student visa?

Who's defending lawlessness. The election is over. We already had this debate and my side lost. We know. It's cruel to split up families, to kick people out who don't even know Mexico. Tough shit.

I'm sure it will be a lot easier moving back than it was getting in.

Again, the vast majority of ESL students in the country were born here. Many families come here specifically to get a better education for their kids. Some parents are afraid their kids could get scooped up despite being US citizens. Personally, I don't see ICE "raiding" schools. Poor optics.

Hire more. In our school in Florida, we would disenroll students who were absent for more than 5 days without a parent contact. Then they were somebody else's problems.
