Increasing our national debt by a party that is supposed to oppose “big spending”: Claiming that his “Big, Beautiful Bill” will decrease the national debt by $1.6 trillion through spending cuts but in reality, when you factor in the huge tax cuts for the wealthy, it increases our debt by $3 trillion.

Any officer above full bird colonel (captain in the navy) is a political animal and to get there in peacetime he/she has to have an impeccable record with no false steps. That means he/she never states an opinion, takes any actions contrary to the current social standards of the president or the Pentagon and never actually does anything that could possibly go wrong. We haven't had a wartime general since 1954; they've all been peacetime generals; what we used to call pampered pentagon princes' when I was on active duty.
