As a Jew this is hard for me to explain

I think there was confusion with the AD = After Death.

It meant there was a 33 year gap between BC and AD.

Anno Domini begins with the birth of Jesus.

Yes it does. But many people make the same mistake the poster earlier in this thread did, by thinking it means "after death". That is why I said the problem was due to the confusion.

Or simply ignorance.

Well, that too. I was trying to be polite.

“ad” means; The years “After Jesus’s death”.,.i.e. (ad)

Actually, A.D. stands for Anno Domini (the year of the lord).

Yes but we have to use BCE/CE now as to not offend anyone

I'm not offended by "Anno Domini"or AD at all.

And I don't see why anyone else would be.

Because it is based on Jesus Christ.

So what? Don't all people agree that Jesus H. Christ is a critical individual in World History- even if they might disagree with the theological fact that He is Almighy God?

The dates are still set according to the birth of Jesus. They simply call in BCE & CE.

"CE" and "BCE" are also based on Jesus Christ.

In fact, they stand for Common Era, and Before Common Era ... pragmatic acknowledgement of a cultural delusion. Other cultures have their own calendars but, for practical reasons, will also use the Common, Gregorian Calendar.

Loosely. It's more about taking Christ out of it

Technically not though it is the same overlay so as not to create confusion in dating.

Well for much of the world, Christ is just a name in another religion.

The birth of Jesus is used for the calendars for the entire world and over a span of thousands of years of the history of humanity. And you want to complain that it doesn't say his name?

The dividing line is the birth of Jesus. That part is the same.

Didnt say that.

My problem is OUR intellectual "elites" minimizing the origin of our calendar to appease pagans. F--k them

They are not appeasing anyone. Christianity is, at best, 33% of the world's population.

"A people without a heritage are easily persuaded."

Who was it that said that?

They haven't been able to remove Jesus Christ from the Constitution yet.

Technically speaking leaving God crap on Fed buildings is appeasing to the Christian populace.
It would only be fair to allow Satan to post stuff there too in their defense.

Gads, you're a moron.

No need, since the mythical zombie god of the Abrahamic myths isn't in there, anyway.

Is this a challenge???

You really should have learned that I am never wrong......but, you never learned anything, did you.

There is a specific reference to Jesus Christ in the US Constitution.

Do we have a wager......or would you rather silently slink away?
