I guarantee Obama ordered this. Don't want people in charge that won't fire on US Citizens now do we. He already had several admirals and generals removed.

The most Obama had to do with that decision would have been to give a budget figure toCongress, who (the AFcommittee) would give their recommendations to the Pentagon.....

Major is the average retirement rank for an officer, captain for prior enlisted. FYI the average retirement rank for enlisted personnel (20 years, yes) is E-7.

The point is, such retirements aren't all that early, and it's nothing which hasn't happened before. Several times - under Presidents of both parties.
