It's hard to get hyped up for ice skating when you are falling on your ass in the driveway and school's out. It's like all sports, PC has ruined that too

I like to watch

Skiing
Ski jumping
Snow boarding
Women’s figure skating
Bobsled/luge

Like most Olympics, there are too many events many that seem just made up

Gotta watch some Curling

Cornhole on ice

The cool thing about curling as you and your friends can get into to watching it, if you want to do something different.
It also happens slow enough you can enjoy some anticipation of a result on the ice, while watching people who have excelled in a skill provide a not so determined outcome.

Looks kinda goofy but I enjoy it

The first time I watched it, I was stationed in Germany watching some old folks playing on a pond that had frozen and where they had cleaned up a playing area. It was not far from the entrance of the kaserne, and perhaps the beer we were drinking made it easier for me to accept the recreation benefits available when I found it in the Olympics. :auiqs.jpg:

I'll occasionally watch downhill skiing. Back in the day I skied a few black diamond runs that were terrifying. I can't imagine going 75 mph on skis.
Towards the bottom of the downhill run, some were hitting speeds in the high 80s and I saw the number jump to 90 for a second or two. When I was younger and had the balls to go fast, I felt like I was hitting 50 mph, but reading ski magazines, I learned that I was probably going 35-40 at the most. The snowboards in half-pipes are boring as hell, imo.
My wife retired me because she didn`t want to go to a Somerset Pa. hospital to visit me. I`ve had a lot of injuries from doing stupid things but not skiing.

I am more interested in summer Olympics

And how is it with you?

I copy to DVD-R and speed through it. I like winter and summer. But every 2 years is enough for me.

Same.
With the possible exception of men's downhill skiing, I have no interest at all.
Maybe a little hockey but with NHL players, it's changed everything. Not the same it used to be.

Bring back some lead pipe-to-the-knee violence mob-style violence between competitors. That'll never be topped as far as drama

Believe it or not, that's what got me back! I had stopped watching the Olympics when they allowed Pro skaters to return to the Olympics in '92! The Kerrigan/Harding Saga brought me back! It rejuvenated the sport so much, all 4 Networks were featuring amatuer & pro events all yr. long! I taped a lot of it from '94-2008! I became a huge Surya Bonaly fan & watched the injustice of it all! I was so glad she won the 2000 Goodwill Games! I barely watch these days w/ most Russian & Belarusian disallowed to compete for the most part due to Ukraine war! Ilia Malinin caught my interest; not just b/c of his being the Quad God, but I recall his mom! She out-skated Michelle Kwan in 2001, but the crooked scoring was more prevalent before the new COR in 2006! She was robbed of at least a Bronze medal at Worlds! :stir: :D:oops:

In an amazing result, Ilia Malinin crashed & burned in his Free Skate a couple hrs. ago! Shocking! Ilia couldn't stay on his feet popping his Quad Axel early on! I was saying a few days ago that too much pressure & responsibility was being placed on those tiny shoulders! I thought he was overworked just by helping The US Team skating both the Short & Free Skates! It was just too much after adding on the interviews, multiple photo ops, & the wt. of the World piling on! This was sorta like Nathan Chen back in 2018 w/ a horrible Short, then won the Free Skate dropping to 5th overall! Luckily he came back strong in '22 to win OG! Malinin can do the same in 2030 to skate in the French Alps! :stir: 😢:(

I saw it. It was heartbreaking.

Women's figure skating used to be the most valuable Gold Medal at the Olympics. Now, Ice Dancing is the best thing to watch.
