The Democratic Party is full of moderates. Most of them came from the Republican Party after they were chased away by the far right wing nutters.

Most people don't fit the left right paradigm because it's an illusion. There are many liberals who are against Obamacare, are pro-life, and against tax increases, just as there are many conservatives that support immigration reform, gay marriage, and collective bargaining. There are many liberals who are against Obamacare, are pro-life, and against tax increases, just as there are many conservatives that support immigration reform, gay marriage, and collective bargaining. There is no one size fist all when it comes to what people believe.

That's not totally true. There are a lot of dems who are one topic voters. The vast majority of Americans are conservative on most issues.

My experience is that most people do not differ with their party on just one issue. I have talked with many Democrats and Republicans over the years and have found that most of them strongly support the parties position on a number of issue, mildly support some others, and strongly oppose at least a couple. You can't use USMB as a typical cross section of voters. Posters on media such as this usually have strong political views and are strongly aligned with a political ideology.

You're correct when you say most people are conservative but that doesn't mean they support the Tea Party or the Republican Party's agenda. Most people regardless of their political affiliation believe the government is overspending but that doesn't mean they support cuts to the programs most responsible for the spending. Most people believe government is inefficient, but that doesn't mean they want to abolish most of it.

America is a moderate country and that should bode well for the Democrats in the future. I dare say we'll welcome the RINOs, as they abandon the sinking ship.

Accountability and Responsibility are HARD lessons --- that is why our Democratic leaders refuse to insist on it. If they were to sell "hard work" to generations of no-account - irresponsible people this phony "compromising party" crap who come into legitimate light!

I can't help, if you're that oblivious. I suggest you start by limiting the immoderate talk. The problem isn't with the Democrats or moderate Republicans, it's with the fringe that's creating a "scandals-of-the-day" echo chamber. Stopping that and getting to work on the real problems will go a long way towards making the Republicans relevant again.
