As a European, it's difficult for me to judge objectively; you read this or that. As far as I understand, the farmers had hoped for an improvement in their situation. Has it improved?

compared to the last 10 years maybe. I had read that they had high hopes for the new government.Compared to when? If yoh are asking then under xiden, then yes it’s improved
Put it this way, the farmers all still have their Trump flags and yard signs up, if that's what you're asking.
Well compared to the old, as I said, it’s improvedcompared to the last 10 years maybe. I had read that they had high hopes for the new government.
I know, of course, not all farmers are the same. It could have been that everyone would now be cheering and saying: "Wow! Now things are finally looking up!"The question is too general and agriculture too specialized.
Some are beef cattle ranchers,
Some grow only corn,
Some grow only soy,
Some, in comparatively very small numbers, grow a vegetable crop,
Some raise chickens,
Some raise other grains, rice, barley, rye, sorghum,
What helps some hurts others.
All have become highly dependent on and massively fucked over by the whims and policies of the turd in the White House of the moment, going back to the 1930’s, the result of concentration of too much control in DC.
Like most folks they have little input into the forces that influence and control their lives. The growth of corporate agriculture and it’s outsized influence on policies has done them more harm than good,
Stupid is as stupid does.
They get tariffs, which make them poorer, then Trump gives them 1/3rd back.... great. Not.
It's basically the same here; I've never heard of any satisfied farmers here...Let me tell you something.....Farmer John is never satisfied with anything and they will tell you so (if you would stand still long enough) whilst leaning against their new F350 PU.
If I hear "I buy at retail and sell at wholesale" one more time I'll puke coat hangers.![]()
Like many other folk, they rolled the dice and took a chance that their choice would benefit them. If not benefit, which would hurt them least. The same as every four years over the last 200 years.I know, of course, not all farmers are the same. It could have been that everyone would now be cheering and saying: "Wow! Now things are finally looking up!"

In Germany, agriculture seems to be changing in such a way that the large farms are profiting more and more, including from subsidies, while the small ones are struggling. I try to buy as much as possible directly from small, local farmers whenever possible. In Austria and Italy, it's easier; there are more farmers there who sell directly and also produce things like sausage, cheese, etc. But I know that agriculture in the USA is not comparable to ours, if only in terms of the size of the farms!Cargill
ADM
Dole
Del Monte
There are many corporate farming institutions in the agricultural sector that have made it challenging for independent farmers to exist.
It is a complicated industry in the USA.
When we see the levels of starvation in examples of socialist or communist countries, overall I have no issue with how food gets from the ground into my body.
We can talk about pesticides and inhumane treatment of livestock, but those are really ancillary issues. Overall we have a good system.
I do not mind some money going to farmers. Better than to illegal immigrants.
I wouldn't get into who is stupid after comparing Trump/Republican policies to the moronic/deviant democrat policies.Stupid is as stupid does.

Small farmers are less able and agile to respond to the EU green retard rules and regulations, nor do they have the same influence with the politicians. In Germany, agriculture seems to be changing in such a way that the large farms are profiting more and more, including from subsidies, while the small ones are struggling. Actually, I believe the farm my father grew up on near Bischofsgruen in the 1940's and 1950's is still owned by his family. I'm pretty sure one of my younger cousins is currently working it and has actually gone to university to learn to design farm equipment. I don't know him, but perhaps I should try to get in touch with him and learn what's going on at the family farm after all these years. I know he has a social media account or two. It's basically the same here; I've never heard of any satisfied farmers here...![]()
Yes, that sounds lovely. You should definitely do that; they'll be delighted. It's also a very beautiful area, and they have an incredible number of breweries with delicious beerActually, I believe the farm my father grew up on near Bischofsgruen in the 1940's and 1950's is still owned by his family. I don't know, EU folks are weird about contacting them out of the blue.Actually, I believe the farm my father grew up on near Bischofsgruen in the 1940's and 1950's is still owned by his family.
