That has a good sound to it.
Thanks Aris.

Of course, Bavarian spoken by a milk maid does too. I wonder if it is the song, the singer, or the language.

Knew a fella who got a doctorate from Harvard - a doctorate in ancient languages, specializing in Aramaic.

I once challenged him on how he'd make a living off it.

He said that temporarily he'd get a job teaching Aramaic to other suckers.

But the long term goal was the belief that there would be a Second Coming of Christ and He would have forgotten to learn English - so the little fella would make big bucks translating for the networks!

But Jesus hasn't come back yet.

He had high hopes for what Reverend Louis B. Farrakhan told him was to be The New Messiah! Surely his fortune was made.

But, alas, instead of Aramaic he should have learned Bantu Swahili

Antiquity document translation. Movie and documentary script translation. Church translation.

He can write poetry and music in aramaic.

There are needs for English to aramaic translation of documents, internet, video, audio for those who still speak from syria and lebanon.

My grandparents who came from Iraq spoke Aramaic, and parts of their Jewish marriage certificate had Aramaic writing on it.

Years ago I ran into some Assyrians (not Syrians) in a grocery store and found that their language is also similar to Hebrew and Aramaic. For example hello in Hebrew is Shalom aleykhem, in Assyrian it's Shlamaloo...I'm willing to bet the Aramaic sounds the same.

These are all dying languages.

I just spoke Aramaic 2 days ago, when I said Kaddish (the Memorial Prayer) for my dad. Many Jewish prayers are in Aramaic, so this language is of interest to Jews as well as Christians.

More likely, it's the beer, and the bodice...
