The cynical and silly demand by Arab students in Tel Aviv university shows the new low of simple lack of understanding.
A painting presenting, or so do Arabs students say, the destruction of Al Aqsa mosque by the 'occupation' is the center of conflict in Tel-Aviv university. KM Taleb-A-Sana from Ra'am-Ta'al politic party demands to remove and apologize for offending the feelings of Muslim students in the university.
In the last few days a Jewish-southerner student, Yif'at Zaifer, presented her painting on the library wall. The Painting shows a bulldozer ruins a building and a group of Jews holding a Menorah and Torah scroll.
"I recived complains about this painting from Arabs and Muslims in the university," said a.p Yosef Clepter, "They claim that there's incitement and an obvious will to hurt Muslim feelings in the drawing."
MK Abu Arar said, "I ask to inform you of this offending painting, hanged on the library wall. This painting will ignite riots and protest by the Muslim students in the university. It's obvious message is to harm Muslim in a way that cannot be interpenetrated otherwise. I call you to remove this offensinve painting and to punish the artist. I'm shocked that you let such an offensive work to be presented in the first place."
But is there really a reason to remove the painting? The artist is surprised, "An inciting painting?" she asks, "That's not a mosque at all, much less Al-Aqsa. That's the ruins of Nezarim synagogue that was destroyed back in 2005. I painted the Jews leaving the synagogue in hopes to save the holy objects inside."
To the question about the confusion she answered, "Maybe because of the dome. But there is no reason for it. The title itself says, in English, "Nezarim synaguge". I'm surprised that politicians protested for nothing, there is no reason for it."
This is the original synagogue in the painting. The Menorah was saved from it, on top of the roof-
In case the Arabs have forgotten, in reality, the vessels didn't destroy the synagogue. It was actually set on fire once the Arab reached and "claimed back" the lands. It was burned down and the Menorah and Torah scroll were saved by the Jews.
So who's to be really offended?
