Leafs have our first goal scoring champ since the 1930s (yes, that long), in American born Austin Matthews. We also have an American goalie Jack Campbell who stole the #1 spot and went on an insane 17-2-2 run to fill in (a record run for a new starting goalie from the start of the season).

The trash talking between cities is immense. Neither of us are out of the Wuhan Virus danger zone. Ontario, in fact, in full "Walmart-is-closed-except-for-food-wear-your-mask-social-distance-stay-in-your-home-only-or-be-fined/arrested" lockdown until June!

Regardless. Both regions are failing economically, along with the rest of Canada, so the desperate-for-some-good-news citizens want a sacrifice! That of the other city!

The last time the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens squared off in a playoff series was April of 1979. It was the quarterfinal round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, with the Canadiens sweeping the Leafs 4-0. Fourty-two years later, the Buds and Habs are renewing their historic rivalry in the first round of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. It’s the first time these teams are meeting in the playoffs since Pierre Trudeau, Justin’s dad, was prime minister.

Hockey Hall of Famer Lanny McDonald and Paul Gardner played for the Leafs back then, while Cam Connor and Doug Risebrough were on the Canadiens. All four players spoke with Complex about the 1979 series, various key moments in those four games, the fan atmosphere, and the importance of the renewed rivalry in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs.

So glad to see Toronto back, they have been bad for sooooo long. Didn't the Canadiens win the Stanley Cup in the 90's? It's been since the 60's since the once proud Maple Leafs won the Cup. And it's good for the sport to see these two teams in the playoffs, are they original six?

Both original six, but it was a horribly boring game, Leafs lost 2-1. it was so bad, I may not even watch the next. Plus, we lost our second line centre to a horrific injury.
