I don't have a link as someone posted it on Twitter but it was really moving. I always viewed him, and I don't say this to be negative per se but he laughs alot; as a salesman, but, he has a real interesting history and a belief in Americas success, he lost a brother in the 9/11 terror attack and it impacted him for many years.
There have been three profound moments to me in Trumps administration in interviews and speeches: 1) Vance telling Europe that they are destroying their countries and suppressing free speech, 2) Trumps UN speech where he said similar but also spoke about the illegal immigration and climate policies that are hurting Europe and 3) Howard Lutnick in an interview when speaking about tariffs on some nations (I think Canada was raised) when he said in a powerful manner I thought "they don't even follow our Constitution".
Now some might say, "of course they don't, they aren't America", but that one sentence was powerful in that it addresses so many issues that could ultimately drive Trump to use National Security on nations that do not and to remind Americans of the Judeo-Christian values that guide our nations. The issue of freedom is one both parties embrace for PR purposes and photo ops but what if Trump said "we can no longer just passively accept that allies of yesteryear are the same allies of 2025, they do NOT believe in due process, civil liberties, human rights etc".
Anyways, if anyone else saw it or finds it on twitter it was a long and very comfortable interview. Miranda does a good job and Howard really showed a human side. It's one we see from Trump usually when a camera catches him talking to friends as he is entirely different, but, once in awhile he is comfortable in an interview and we see a human side to him.
In short, human rights matter. They mattered when Reagan stood at the Berlin Wall and they matter today when fighting free speech and human rights of citizens in all countries, enemy or ally alike.
