I did research on getting out of apartments and into a really nice RV home a few years ago.
Even though I'd be paying less than HALF of the rent I pay per month, there were too many more obligations of expense.
-Some states require a special license, depending on what you have.
-You need a powerful truck to pull the thing, or if you have a drivable RV, you need a trailer to tow your car.
-MORE insurance.
-MORE maintenance than just having an apartment or house.
-No place to safely park overnight......and the few places that do exist require reservations months ahead of time.
-You are at the mercy of the almighty gas pump.
-Mechanics for these things are usually ONLY located in large, metropolis cities (and exspensive). Go figure.
-Buying your own parcel of land is just as expensive as buying all of the accessories for having an RV home.
-Like cars and trucks, RVs are "modernized" with computers to run them. If one goes haywire or needs replacement.......you could be severely fucked over the cost of getting it fixed or replaced.
Personally, I just wanted one on a small piece of properrty, but was unable to locate any properties in areas I wanted to live, that were already set up for RV homes........or even buying a used one already set up on a property.
I came to the conclusion, you've got to be RICH to afford an RV to live in.
And if I had THAT kind of money........I'd already be living in a house out in the boonies somewhere years ago.
