I am actually Messianic Jewish but I do believe that the near death experience account of former Atheist and Rabbi Alon Anava is bringing a high percentage of Jews in America and in Israel into a better understanding of what Judaism teaches about the afterlife.

Jewish teachings on the afterlife are somewhat like the Roman Catholic view. Roman Catholicism borrowed the idea of Purgatory from Jewish scholars.

Judaism is also open to the idea of reincarnation though in what is called the Gilgul Cycle. Certain statements by Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus about John the Baptist hint that he and John the Baptist could have been members of the Essene community which is somewhat like the modern Breslovian Chassidic community.

True, but it is only a certain percentage of Christians who do go without food and water on Yom Kippur. Also I am hearing Messiah Yeshua - Jesus more clearly through Rabbi Alon Anava than pretty much any Christian pastor. I've listened to hundreds of his amazing lectures.

You got it! I actually came to Messianic Judaism out of Atheism back when I was a teenager in the seventies. I believe that every word in Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah and the minor prophets will be fulfilled for the Jewish people over the coming years and decades.

Do what I do. It eliminates the problem every time. Sleep under the bed with all the lights on full, facing the locked door holding a cocked & loaded sub-machine gun.

I don't think you understand my point -- people are free to worship however they wish. But to mislabel their practice to misrepresent beliefs is offensive. It seems that anyone else can be offended by cultural misrepresentation or misappropriation but you deny Jews that right.

It is a pity you don't understand why that is offensive while a born Jew who lacks belief in God calling himself Jewish is factually accurate.

Purgatory has always been a factor in Catholic faith/belief. It is the teaching of Jesus and the Apostles, and all these teachings the Church continues to follow and to teach.

You are correct and I must apologize for erroneously believing in the "Soul Sleep" theory from 1972 until 1990. When I began to study near death experience accounts I soon knew that my old church was terribly in error in what we taught happens after we die and I soon realized that the Roman Catholic idea of "Purgatory" sounds a lot like many of these astonishing near death experience accounts where somebody is shown hell, but then they are sent back into this life with a mission to accomplish. Former Atheist Howard Storm is a good example of this. His book "My Descent Into Death" was amazing and I believe as accurate as he humanly could make it.

Not really. They've just accepted that Jesus Christ is the prophesied messiah as did many Jews back in the day. Those who don't accept Jesus Christ are the outliers.

And many Messianic Jews or Messianic Gentiles like myself are wondering if this is the time for the G-d of Abraham to raise up a "Christian Political Cyrus" who will assist the Jewish people to fulfill every word in Ezekiel chapters forty to forty eight. Ezekiel chapter forty seven sounds like a win, win, win, win, win scenario for all ten million Israelis but also for all Jordanians, for all Egyptians, all Lebanese and all Syrians, and yes, even for all Palestinians who break out of the Russian gambit that was put into writing in the time of President Yury Andropov to turn the entire Islamic world against the nation of Israel so that Israel could become a weakness to their ally, the USA.
