I am actually Messianic Jewish but I do believe that the near death experience account of former Atheist and Rabbi Alon Anava is bringing a high percentage of Jews in America and in Israel into a better understanding of what Judaism teaches about the afterlife. So what's the deal? Please, oh please do not misrepresent who and what you are. You are a Christian. There is no shame in admitting it.I am actually Messianic Jewish but I do believe that the near death experience account of former Atheist and Rabbi Alon Anava is bringing a high percentage of Jews in America and in Israel into a better understanding of what Judaism teaches about the afterlife.
Jewish teachings on the afterlife are somewhat like the Roman Catholic view. Roman Catholicism borrowed the idea of Purgatory from Jewish scholars.
Judaism is also open to the idea of reincarnation though in what is called the Gilgul Cycle. Certain statements by Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus about John the Baptist hint that he and John the Baptist could have been members of the Essene community which is somewhat like the modern Breslovian Chassidic community.

Talk to EMH. He finds them everywhere!I looked under my bed. No Jews hiding there.

There really is a difference. Yes, they are "Christian" but Ethnically Jewish. There ARE converts. But he likely observes the Sabbath and Holy Days as all Christians SHOULD, but shamefully dontPlease, oh please do not misrepresent who and what you are. You are a Christian. True, but it is only a certain percentage of Christians who do go without food and water on Yom Kippur. Also I am hearing Messiah Yeshua - Jesus more clearly through Rabbi Alon Anava than pretty much any Christian pastor. I've listened to hundreds of his amazing lectures. Please, oh please do not misrepresent who and what you are. You are a Christian. There is no shame in admitting it.
You got it! I actually came to Messianic Judaism out of Atheism back when I was a teenager in the seventies. I believe that every word in Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah and the minor prophets will be fulfilled for the Jewish people over the coming years and decades. There really is a difference. there are converts to Christianity. "Messianic Judaism" is an offensive appropriation which is misleading. There really is a difference. Yes, they are "Christian" but Ethnically Jewish. There ARE converts. But he likely observes the Sabbath and Holy Days as all Christians SHOULD, but shamefully dont
Oh thanks a ******* lot. Now I won't be getting any sleep tonight.![]()
Well you live in a world where people are free to worship God as you understand Him. Too bad you're not equally offended that so many atheists call themselves Jewishthere are converts to Christianity. "Messianic Judaism" is an offensive appropriation which is misleading.
I don't think you understand my point -- people are free to worship however they wish. But to mislabel their practice to misrepresent beliefs is offensive. It seems that anyone else can be offended by cultural misrepresentation or misappropriation but you deny Jews that right.Well you live in a world where people are free to worship God as you understand Him. Borrowed? Grin. The Roman Catholic faith is rooted in Judaism and Jesus often spoke of this purification/purging that, in English, became known as purgatory. Purgatory has always been a factor in Catholic faith/belief. It is the teaching of Jesus and the Apostles, and all these teachings the Church continues to follow and to teach.Jewish teachings on the afterlife are somewhat like the Roman Catholic view. You are correct and I must apologize for erroneously believing in the "Soul Sleep" theory from 1972 until 1990. When I began to study near death experience accounts I soon knew that my old church was terribly in error in what we taught happens after we die and I soon realized that the Roman Catholic idea of "Purgatory" sounds a lot like many of these astonishing near death experience accounts where somebody is shown hell, but then they are sent back into this life with a mission to accomplish. Former Atheist Howard Storm is a good example of this. His book "My Descent Into Death" was amazing and I believe as accurate as he humanly could make it.Borrowed? Grin. Not really. They've just accepted that Jesus Christ is the prophesied messiah as did many Jews back in the day. Those who don't accept Jesus Christ are the outliers.there are converts to Christianity. "Messianic Judaism" is an offensive appropriation which is misleading.

According to Ion Mihai Pacepa, “In 1972, the Kremlin decided to turn the whole Islamic world against Israel and the U.S. As KGB chairman Yury Andropov … [said], a billion adversaries could inflict far greater damage on America than could a few millions. We needed to instill Nazi-style hatred for the Jews throughout the Islamic world, and to turn this weapon … against Israel and its main supporter, the United States.”
1973 - Soviet statements and preparations for an attack against Israel led the Pentagon to order U.S. nuclear forces to the highest state of peacetime readiness. The Joint Chiefs of Staff ordered the 82nd Airborne Division to prepare to head to the Middle East, and additional U.S. naval forces -- including American aircraft carriers -- moved into the Mediterranean, all out of a real and rising concern that the Soviets were about to make an unprecedented military move against Israel.- 1982 - Israeli forces battling PLO terrorists in southern Lebanon unexpectedly uncovered a secret but massive cache of Soviet weaponry in deep underground cellars and tunnels. The storehouses contained some 4,000 tons of ammunition, 144 armored vehicles and tanks, 12,500 pieces of small arms, and 515 heavy weapons. Then-Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin said that the Russians had prepositioned enough weapons to "equip not five brigades, but five or six [Soviet] divisions," adding that "we shall need literally thousands of trucks to evacuate these weapons from Lebanon."
- June, 1982 - Russia organizes international terrorist conference: In June of 1982, two hundred forty organizations of eighty countries met in Tripoli for the International Conference of the World Center Resistance to Imperialism, Zionism, Racism, Reaction, and Fascism. The meeting was organized by the Soviet Union and Colonel Qaddafi and resulted in the forming of a committee ultimately consisting of Libya, Cuba, Iran, Syria, and North Korea. Their goal was the establishment of international terrorist training programs to prepare their revolutionaries for the battle against the oppressors, primarily the United States. Professional military personnel were recruited, including experts in all types of modern combat and sabotage, many of them trained in the Soviet Union. the faculty at Manzareih included translators, commandos from North Korea, security experts from Syria, veteran Palestinian terrorists, advisers from Libya, KGB officers fluent in Farsi (the Iranian language), and radical experts from movements all over the world. By 1985 there we as many as eighteen functioning training facilities in Iran training thousands of terrorists. There were special camps for women and suicide fighters as well as the general three-to-six month training sessions for regular recruits. The Iranians even turned airports into academies.... With camps established all over the Middle East and Castro's Cuba clearly destined to be the training capital of the Western hemisphere, the international terrorist machine was in motion.
