Something has bothered me with most of the discussions concerning Trump sending someone off to a prison while disregarding their civil rights. (Yes he did this and I will not argue anything otherwise).

The arguments go, once you allow due process to be stripped from one, it becomes easier to then do it to others. What bothers me is that ship has longed sailed.

It became public knowledge that Obama had targeted Al-Awlaki to be killed when found. He had people arguing that he had never received any Due Process and therefor could not have a sentence against him. No, he wasn't here but...

What is your point with that? That Obama denied someone due process, and now Trump is doing the same?

It started long ago, by the way you seem to define denying due process. Let's look at the Normandy invasion. FDR sent thousands of armed men with clear and explicit orders to kill as many Germans as they could in as short a period as they could, and not one of those Germans were given the slightest bit of due process.

Hell, not the first time Germans were targeted for such an atrocity. George Washingon led armed men across the Delaware to find Hessian's who were accused - but NEVER convicted - of being mercinaries in the employ of the British. The orders were to kill, and no reading of rights was even required.

Joe Biden's Secret Service executed Thoman Crooks without trial, and without even yelling "Federal Officers, FREEZE!" after he only fired eight shots, none of which killed Trump.

It's almost as if "due process" doesn't mean the same thing in different situations, particularly not calling for a conviction by jury before every action.
