Minnesota Claims the ICE Surge Is Illegal. A Judge Will Hear Arguments on Monday.

A federal judge in Minnesota will consider an extraordinary legal question on Monday: Can a deployment of federal law enforcement officers be so dangerous and so intrusive that it violates a state’s sovereignty under the 10th Amendment?

Lawyers for the state of Minnesota, along with the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, have claimed that the Trump administration’s surge of some 3,000 immigration agents to the state has crossed the line into an unconstitutional and illegal occupation. They have asked a judge to temporarily halt the surge, which has led to three shootings, thousands of arrests and tense protests.

The Trump administration has dismissed the state’s legal theory, saying in court filings that it “would constitute an unprecedented act of judicial overreach” to expel federal officers from Minnesota. They have argued that Operation Metro Surge, as the administration has named its Minnesota campaign, is fully legal, and that it is up to the federal government to decide when and how to enforce federal laws.

Perhaps MN officials are taking an one step at a time approach. First, at the least put a temporary judicial halt on ICE's activities in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The people there have been terrorized by Gregory Bovino's marauding gangs of masked men long enough.

Second (this is speculation on my part) indict the ICE agents involved in the shooting deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Because this is not yet the country trump and Stephen Miller want. One where federal agents can gun down people in the streets with impunity. Or violate their 4th A rights. Or routinely get away with an excessive use of force. No matter how hard the regime tries to turn the country in to a police state.......this is still America.

I have no idea how the judge will rule. I just know a case like this wouldn't come before a court during any other prez's term. When federal troops have been used in the past it has typically been at the governor's request to control violence. In this case, no such request has been made while federal troops are causing the violence.

So.... when republicans are in charge, then the federal government is not allowed to enforce immigration policy is dem states?

This is sounding more and more like an civil war.

You sure you want to play this game?

They're at war with the enemy they have created within. The list of parallels with 1930's Europe now couldn't be more obvious. This is an authoritarian takeover, and they're executing Americans in the streets, and they have their useful idiots running interference for them.

The world has stopped warning us now. They tried and we didn't listen, so now they have to look out for themselves. It doesn't look like congressional Republicans are going to take care of this, so options are dwindling. The November elections -- depending on how they are run -- may tell us where we're ultimately going.

No.

There, the question has been answered.

But they'll waste a shitload of resources on it anyways because they are corrupt.

You will do nothing if you win. You caused the pain people felt from your legislation and EO's with Joe.

Alex Pretti killing: Minnesota CEOs, including UnitedHealth, Target, call for ‘immediate deescalation’

Major Minnesota business leaders on Sunday called for an “immediate deescalation of tensions” after federal immigration agents fatally shot U.S. citizen Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.

More than 60 CEOs of Minnesota-based companies signed a letter urging “state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions.” The companies said the recent tumult in Minnesota has caused “widespread disruption and tragic loss of life.”

Among the signatories to the letter released by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce are incoming Target CEO Michael Fiddelke; William Brown, the chairman and CEO of 3M; Brian Sikes, the chair and CEO of food giant Cargill; and Stephen Hemsley, the CEO of UnitedHealth.

Kudos to biz leaders for having the courage to risk retribution from Dotard for calling out the regime to take a step back from terrorizing the residents of MN.

Yes, that's exactly how they want to play this game.
They're hypocrites and phonies and criminals and spit on the law.

Not a fan of this milquetoast letter. It acts like there isnt oppression going on but just a disagreement. Tries to normalize the federal overreach as a misunderstanding. However, businesses do need to stand up so I'll take a weak step forward over nothing.

Conservatives, once staunch advocates of states’ rights, endlessly invoking the 10th Amendment to justify their opposition to Federal laws and policies, have become enemies of states’ rights, advocates of an authoritarian Federal government and the tyranny of a despotic Trump regime.

Conservatives are infamous for their hypocrisy.

So you want businesses to continue to push these agitators for more violence which could result in their death. You shouldn't want this to escalate. Wow.

**** TONE.

Your side is pushing escalation, because you have lost the policy debate.

So, asking you if you are sure you have considered the end of that path, is completely reasonable.

That you think it is "tone deaff" to consider the consequences of your actions, just shows how ******* retarded you leftards are.

If I don't get to have my policies even when I win elections, then why should I play elections?

Sounds like we need to move on to the next game.

IF this strategy of the dems works, and they manage to win, by provoking violence in the streets.

Conservatives are infamous for their hypocrisy.

The federal government has their roles, the state have their roles.

IMMIGRATION is one of the FEDERAL roles.

Your hissy fit over this, is manafactured outrage designed to distract from how bad your policies have been for AMERICA and AMERICANS.

Like trump, they have abandoned philosophical consistency for political expediency.
