So cash for clunkers, a program by the current congress and administration, is already broke. I think that this example shows what will happen when they try to do health care. They will run out of money faster than planned and end up rationing care.

Judging from the number of threads on this topic the rightwing must be peeing their collective pants this morning.

sounds like ALL of the stimulus, should have been put in to OUR HANDS, similar to this program...IT WORKED! it definitely was a good, productive, stimulus.

I hope they take back some of their other stimulus programs that are NON productive and put the money in to this program....

I used to worry about the health care reform bill that Obama is trying to ram down our throats getting passed in the dead of night like so many other bad bills the Democrats toss out to the public. I'm not worried about the health care bill at all any more. It isn't going to pass so there is no need to keep worring about it. This has been exposed for what it is and that is a collection of very bad ideas that the American public is not going to tolerate. I think you're going to find that this is indeed Obama's "Waterloo". This bill, and your beloved socialist President are toast. Let's all sit back and see what the next trillion dollar boondoggle will be. The cash for clunkers program, while having a bit of possibilities, is still an area that the government has no business with their fingers in. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that the government can sell cars or promote the auto industry. While the lawmakers are on their summer break maybe they could take a little bit of time and actually read the Constitution. That is what they should be discussing when they return from the break - not stupid ideas like the Obama Health Care Reform Bill or cash for clunkers.

Today the senate held up the additional 2 billion dollar funding proposal to fix this by the house.

I hope this stuff doesn't happen IF we are dumb enough to let our failure of a govt run health care.

Yeah, you're right...it worked...It showed just how incapable the fed. gov. is at preparing for something and following through with it. It showed how fucked up the program is with 5 hours of paperwork for each vehicle making it not worth the trouble to the dealers. It showed just how unconcerned the gov. is about the climate allowing people to trade in their clunkers for gas guzzlers like hummers and it showed just how the government plans on making money with your tax dollars and your childrens tax dollars to support the car companies that the government now owns...Lets see, the government takes over the car companies then gives your childrens debt as an incentive to buy their cars...Fucking briliant!

well they passed the 2 billion for cash for clunkers. So it was 3x as expensive as they thought.

Now add that information in to their predictions for health care and you end up with a program that will be at least 4trillion dollars.

I just can't trust this horrible govt we have....i love our founding principles but the current govt does not use or abide by them.

Then as soon as we hear the new talking points we can just post them here for you guys. It can be a resource for you guys so you'll always know what you should be thinking.


You realize your argument is just plain stupid? And the reason it's run out of money is because Repubs didn't want to fund it as much as was initially being asked right?

And this of course means that the government can run the military, the police, the mail, etc.. but they won't be able to run health care. Right....
