You can pick any major city and you’ll see crime is higher than the suburbs. But I went to Detroit downtown to Bell isle and it was AMAZING you wouldn’t believe how nice and safe it is.

Do you really want to fix the other 80% that is poor and has high crime? They need jobs, economic opportunities, etc. He parents. They also need to do more themselves. Not have kids they can’t afford, be better parents, clean up their neighborhoods, work with the cops not against it.

Gentrification fixed the 20% of Detroit that is an amazing city.

Lebron James should open up business” in the hood. Or all the NBA and NFL stars who once lived there.

They don't have those things because of culture -- black culture. Nobody wants to put a store in these places because of the behavior of that segment of the population. Nobody wants to go to a McDonald's there because people like this work there and go there. I avoid black areas like the plague

Hipsters took over downtown Detroit. It's so nice in the safe areas. I'm sure just 1 block past the border of that safe zone, you don't go. What's it going to take to fix those broken segments of our population?

Kindness, opportunity, maybe a little of Trump's tough love of taking away the freebees so you think twice before letting Tyrone **** you without a rubber. Definitely economic opportunity. If we put jobs on the border of the shitholes the good people will go get those jobs. Then the shithole is not 80% of Detroit it's only 70%. Shrink it as much as possible by putting economic opportunities NEAR the shitholes. Black people definitely need to do it themselves. Even the Hipsters can only do so much. And Dan Gilbert. And Mayor Duggan.

I do wish Trump would just send the feds in to the prisons and take out all the gang members. Or identify the top ones and one day each of them gets the Jeffrey Epstein goodbye. 1 minute mission from the video. So no one knows what happened. But we all know what happened. Then maybe kids would stop joining these gangs.

Think about how easy it is to recruit a poor kid with only a mother into a gang. Or who lives with grandma. Gramma too tired to raise a kid properly no matter how good she is to him.

I see a lot of nice successful black people too in this new Detroit. Perhaps things aren't as bad as you think. That's the impression I got after going to Detroit. People on USMB have no idea how much Detroit has improved. I'm telling you it's a destination city now! Like NY, Chicago, ATL. Detroit is AMAZING. At least downtown D is. But isn't that true about all the other cities too?

Texas Governor Greg Abbott granted a full pardon to Daniel Perry, who was convicted of murdering a Black Lives Matter protester in 2020. Perry had been sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally shooting Garrett Foster during a 2020 protest.
