I'm visiting a friend who lives off-grid in New Brunswick, in the Appalachian Mountains. Her home is solar powered.

This weekend, there was a huge windstorm, and thousands of people lost power, including those living in the two towns closest to my friend's home. We did not lose our solar power at all. In fact, we enjoyed popcorn and a movie while the storm raged.
