MEMRI: Military Performances, Glorification of Suicide Bombings at Graduation Ceremony of Hamas Youth Camps

"Love death for the sake of Allah as much as our enemies love life,” Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh told thousands of young Palestinians at last week’s graduation ceremony for Hamas camps in the Gaza Strip’s Yarmouk Stadium.

Haniyeh and other senior Hamas officials exhorted the young graduates to not only annihilate Israel, but also to carry their fight across the globe, in a January 16 Al-Aqsa TV broadcast translated by MEMRI, the Middle East Media Research Institute.

“This generation, Allah willing, will vanquish Israel,” said Hamas Interior Minister Fathi Hammad.

“Let me congratulate you on your future victory,” Hammad continued, “and on the annihilation of Israel. As I said yesterday, they only have eight years left.”

“We pray for Allah to choose leaders and martyrs from among you, not only in Palestine, but throughout planet earth, so that the call for jihad will spread all over the world, and the entire world will embrace the religion of Allah.”

The camps, titled “the pioneers of liberation,” are run by Hamas’s ministries of education and interior. Some 13,000 students in grades 10-12 participated in the one-week training camps this year, compared to 5,000 last year when the program was launched, Israeli sources with knowledge of the program said.

The corps of instructors consists mainly of active members of Hamas’s security forces, and the curriculum includes weapons training, first aid, self defense, marching exercises and “security awareness” classes on identifying Israeli spies.

“Continue what you began in the camps,” Hamas Education Minister Osama al-Mazini urged. “Memorize what you have learned, and implement it in the battlefield when you meet the enemy.”

The footage showed thousands of young Palestinians, dressed in black, standing in formation as they listened to senior Hamas officials urging them to die in battle against the Zionist enemy.

Later in the clip, the graduates are seen performing military drills often seen in terrorist training videos, including clambering over walls, swinging across monkey bars, and jumping through burning obstacles. They also held RPGs and rifles.

“Nothing awaits you here but to be killed or to leave,” declared a camp graduate. “Our message to the Zionist enemy, everywhere and at any time, is this: You shall never enjoy a pleasant life on our beloved homeland. We, the sons of the Futuwwa camps, will confront you on every hill, in every valley, on every road.”

Hamdi Shaqura, deputy director of program affairs at the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, a Gaza-based watchdog, said that his organization issued no statement on the training.

“To the best of my knowledge no other organization in Gaza issued a statement either,” he told The Times of Israel.

Omar Dawabha, an eleventh-grader who took part in the training, was quoted on the website of Hamas’s interior ministry saying that “he learned how to safeguard our rights and principles.” Another student, Mohammed Abu Nar, addressed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem at the graduation ceremony.

“We are the pioneers of liberation, we are coming to purify you from the Zionists,” he said.

Hamas got laser guns now...
Cash-strapped Hamas turns to e-bullets
April 10, 2014 ~ In a long hallway that looks more like a videogame arcade than a military base, Hamas security forces are holding target practice using assault rifles fitted with lasers - all without firing a bullet.
For the cash-strapped Hamas government, the system is a much-needed money saver that eliminates the need to train with live ammunition, which is in short supply in Gaza. Hamas also says the quiet, indoor facility is less likely to attract the attention of the Israeli military than the open-air firing ranges that are frequently targeted in airstrikes. "Our training centers are targeted all the time by the occupation, so we have a closed-door shooting range that is hidden from the occupation," said Abdallah Karmot, the deputy director of training at Hamas' Interior Ministry, which oversees security in the seaside strip of land. "We also save money and the time it takes to move officers to training camps for live shooting." Karmot said Hamas developed the electronic shooting range with homegrown technology. The modified Kalashnikovs, powered by software developed by Hamas programmers, fire green laser beams at their targets, which mimic the sound of real rifle fire when there is a direct hit.

The move indoors is the latest sign of the deep financial crisis plaguing Hamas, which is suffering its worst money woes and ammunition shortage since taking power. Israel and Egypt have maintained a blockade of the seaside strip since Hamas seized power from the rival forces of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in 2007. Israel considers Hamas a terrorist organization responsible for killing hundreds of Israelis in suicide bombings and other attacks. Israel and Hamas have engaged in heavy fighting over the years, most recently an eight-day battle in 2012 in which Hamas fired hundreds of rockets into Israel. Under the blockade, Egypt looked the other way for years as cement, fuel and weapons were smuggled into Gaza through a network of tunnels running under the border with Egypt.

Palestinian security officer Muhmmad Debo, 22, practices with an electronically-modified AK-47 rifle at the headquarters of the security training department of the Hamas interior ministry in Gaza City, in the northern Gaza Strip on Thursday, April 10, 2014. The laser-fitted rifles are a money saver that eliminates the need to train with live ammunition, which is in short supply in Gaza.

That changed last summer after the Egyptian military overthrew the country's Islamist president, Mohammed Morsi. Egypt's new military government cracked down on Hamas, the local offshoot of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood movement, and destroyed nearly all of the tunnels. With the tunnels out of operation, Hamas lost a key source of tax revenue and a main conduit for weapons. "Due to the Egyptian crackdown on the tunnels, we can talk about some sort of arms crisis facing all the armed groups in Gaza, as well as the security forces that used smuggled supplies in the past," said Adnan Abu Amer, an expert on Palestinian militant groups at Gaza's Al Ummah University. He said the prices of some weapons have nearly doubled in recent months, and the price of ammunition has tripled. "The most significant result of the tunnel demolitions has been the scarcity of weapons, ammunition and explosives," he said.

The indoor shooting range is roughly 45 yards (40 meters) long and is located in the headquarters of the training department of the Interior Ministry. It can only handle two officers at a time. Karmot said a total of 1,700 men have used the site, and Hamas is considering the establishment of additional locations. "This is great for me. I can have more time in training and shoot as much as I want without worrying about a limit on bullets," said Mohammed Debo, a 22-year-old police officer. Debo took a rifle, which was linked to a computer system by a cable, and aimed at a target posted on a wooden stand. As he pulled the trigger, green flashes of light could be seen on the target. The weapon crackled and popped with the sound of gunfire as he pulled the trigger. A trainer sitting to the side tracked the accuracy of his shots on a laptop. Debo said the gun felt almost like the real thing, though he felt a "slight difference" in the recoil. "The good thing is that you can walk to the hall any time, take your gun and start training," Debo said. "In live shooting, you need to move locations and make sure that there is no threat from the occupation side."

That guy speaking in the video is a nutcase.
The guy speaking is the fucking Palestinian Prime Minister, on the Hamas side, yes?

But I agree that he is a nutcase.

Assuming that he has been correctly identified, and that the translation is correct, then...

Only fitting.

Nutcase leaders, for a nutcase collection of losers.

It would also be fitting to answer like with like.

But the Israelis are saner and more humane than their Palestinian counterparts.
