As I suspected and on which I commented earlier:

Discovered among them were classified U.S. intelligence materials on Ukraine, Iran, and the United Kingdom, CNN reported.

US presidents appear to be in the habit of hiding top secret documents from the incoming president. This makes double sense in that secret information on US complicity of promoting the war against Russia, needed to be kept from Trump.
