THE LDS CONFERENCE EASTER TALK YOU SHOULD HAVE HEARD BUT DIDNāT: THE ANTI-CHIRST IN OUR MIDST
www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmdP30j4ebo
Elder Patrick Kearon
He did not focus on a single apocalyptic āAntichrist figure,ā but rather on the New Testament pattern of āantiāChristā meaning anything or anyone that opposes Christ or denies Him. Trump fit the pattern. So does Mike Lee and Peter Hegseth.
His message centered on:
"Take the War on Iran. It is itself a war crime. It is also a crime against God and diametrically opposed to the teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But as our President issues another bombastic deadline, heās putting his internationally recognized war crimes in writing. 'Bomb Iran back to the stone age', and 'blow up everything,' and for Easter he blasted, 'Tuesday will be Power Plant and Bridge Dayā¦There will be nothing like it! Open the ******* Strait, you crazy bastards or youāll be living in Hell.'
"Killing innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure is terrorism. Many of you are worshipping a man who talks like mob boss, behaves and reasons like a toddler, and has the moral constraints of a psychopathic, homicidal monster--he is a terrorist. This is exactly what your own prophets warned about when they talked of a spiritual darkness and the coming of an Anti-Christ.
"But what also makes it even more unsettling is the religious frosting many have slathered on this perverse cake. This week, our President compared his own persecution to the suffering of Jesus. Then his blasphemous 'spiritual adviser/con artist' Paula White-Cain, took a few minutes off her 'speaking in tongues' career and compared our President to Jesus because both had been 'betrayed and arrested and falsely accused.' Then the President obtusely compared what he was doing for the country today to what Moses did for the Israelites. I remind you if there was ever someone who worshipped idols and golden calves it would be this President.
"On Wednesday Pete Hegseth asked Pentagon officials to join him in praying for 'overwhelming violence' against Iran, 'in the name of Jesus Christ.' Hegseth cited a prayer he had had a chaplan give before Trump invaded Venezuela. 'I pursued my enemies and overtook them. I did not turn back ātil they were consumed. I thrust them through so that they were not able to rise. They fell under my feet. And those who hated me, I destroyed. They cried for help, but there was none to save.' He called on God to 'snap the rod of the oppressor' and 'break the teeth of the ungodly.'
"And then Mister Hegseth wrapped it up in this sickening display of hypocrisy and depravity. ā'Give them wisdom in every decision, endurance for the trial ahead, unbreakable unity, and overwhelming violence of action against those who deserve no mercy,' he said, calling for 'justice to be delivered without remorse. We ask these things in bold confidence in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ.'
"Wrapping up violence, murder, and the malignancy of evil in the mirage of religion and Jesus Christ is exactly what the concept of an Anti-Christ is all about. American religious groups have been the most devoted of MAGA cult members. As an article from this weekās Deseret News explained, our own Church members have been the second most ardent MAGA supporters (behind evangelicals) among all religious groups. To our somewhat credit, the percentage of LDS members who are Republicans has dropped slightly since Trump 2.0.
But LDS people still affiliate with Republicans over Democrats by a 40 point margin.
"You canāt name a single issue; on taxes, healthcare, immigration, war, education, the environment, loving your neighbors as yourself--that the current standards of the Republican Party align with what the Savior admonished us to do. Virtually none of you have hate and cruelty in your hearts. Most of you on a personal level are kind and giving. Yet you vote for a man who is anything but and his policies are exactly what the Savior preached against.
"There is only one example of Jesus using or endorsing violence; when he threw the money changers out of the temple. I dare say if Jesus were to endorse violence today, it would be to storm an ICE facility and throw the oppressors out. Gov. Cox, you must withdraw your support of the concentration camp and instead use your influence to prevent it from ever happening.
"Let me extrapolate from what is perhaps the greatest parable in the New Testament, the Good Samaritan. We cannot be Good Samaritans while we support a man who reigns violence and death down upon another nation and kills children without regret. We cannot love our neighbors as ourselves if we sit idly by and allow the innocent to be incarcerated, beaten, and killed under the pretense of making us safe. We cannot be good Samaritans and allow tax policies to further engorge the wealth of the rich at the expense of the poor, and to build vast armies and weapons of death while American children go hungry at night. The Good Samaritan paid out of his own pocket for the care and healing of the crime victim. A nation of Good Samaritans cannot allow 20 million people to be stripped of their health care and left at the mercy of fate for their survival.
"Mr. Hegseth encouraged you all to attack your supposed enemies without remorse. I on the other hand ask you to feel remorse for acceding your political power and your moral standing before God to someone who is literally, as prophets have warned you against, the Anti-Christ. I ask you repent. I ask you treat all others as you treat your neighbors, whether they live in Iran, whether they came from Central America, or whether their religion, life style, or skin color is different than yours. In your heart I believe you know better. Now turn off Faux News and do better. This is what Jesus would say to you if he were here at this conference with us.
