[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9nZeq-Jf-g]The Future of the Republican Party - YouTube[/ame]
Mind you the whole video is about an hour and 45 minutes.
But it does have some really good speaking points, the first two speakers in particular bring up really interesting things. These are the kind of things you'll never hear about in the media due to a lack of sensationalism, but they're discussions that the intellectuals have in backrooms and decide where the party goes.
The third speaker, Jennifer Marshall, is from the Heritage Foundation and basically just reads off a pre-written speech against gay marriage. I found that worthless and probably the worst speaker of the bunch.
Christine Whitman brings up good points on how the primaries are increasingly decided by fewer and fewer voters due to a growing number of people that register as independent and thus are ineligible to vote in primaries. And since the GOP has redistricted the House districts to be safe within a 10-15% margin, the only real challenge is from the right, and thus a small number of voters are deciding who goes to congress.
Mark Rogers brings up good points on the young vote, latino vote, and single women vote.
The other speakers (other then Jenny Marshall) bring up good points too. Worth watching!
