Why aren't the libs shutting this down. The Whiskey Rebellion in 1794 was a failed attempt at succession centered in western Pennsylvania, and the denizens of Washington County, PA are commemorating it.
Yet libs aren't attacking these "traitors" and are instead permitting festivities?
Sort of inconsistent for libs to attack the Rebels of 1861-65, but not these rebels no? Or aren't the teatotallers who were in favor of taxing booze a group that needs pandered to by libs?
This summer festival honors the period of America’s early days through historic reenactments, period exhibitions, family fun, frontier art, music and food.

Time for a damn history lesson. We begin with the Newburg Crisis.
On March 15, 1783 the officers under George Washington's command met to discuss a petition that called for them to mutiny due to Congress' failure to provide them back pay and pensions for their service during the American Revolution. George Washington addressed the officers with a nine-page...

That is Washington's famous speech, that essentially stifled the Newburg revolt. Arguably, the most important speech Washington ever made. Reading it again, before I posted it, made my skin crawl and only further enhanced my respect for our founders, the men of the American revolution. It is absolutely amazing how far our politicians, and we as a people, have declined since that time. When discussing the anonymous writer of the piece he was reputing, he could just as well been addressing our current media, FOX news leading the way. Or Trump's campaign,
But he had another plan in view, in which candor and liberality of Sentiment, regard to justice, and love of Country, have no part; and he was right, to insinuate the darkest suspicion, to effect the blackest designs.
Six months away from victory in the American Revolution, had the Newburg revolt been successful we would be singing God Save the King before a baseball game. But let me set the stage for you.
Officers in the Continental Army were getting pissed. They weren't getting paid, and they were ready to walk out, move into the wilderness. They demanded that Congress impose a direct tax, so they could get paid. Three of them personally delivered their demands to Congress.
Don't get me wrong, Washington supported that direct tax, indicating as much in his correspondence with Hamilton. What he opposed was the Army attempting to force that tax through Congress by threat.
But now, to the Whiskey Rebellion. The Newburg Crisis was the foundation of the Whiskey Rebellion. I am going to put the real history out there. You won't find it on Wiki, you won't even find it in the most prestigious college's History curriculum. You find it wearing the white gloves and sifting through historical documents.
You are a farmer and along comes the Continental Army, or maybe even the state militia. They take some of your cows because they need food. They take all your gunpowder. And they stroke you an IOU. It is a debt that the government, rather state or federal, is obligated to pay. That is called Continental Script. And you don't really have a choice.
Now, the war has ended. Fields are in total disarray. You have to make a living. You need seed and you have no money. But, you got these government IOU's. The government ain't going to pay you so you sell them to a speculator, like say, Alexander Hamilton. At the bottom, you were getting three cents on the dollar. A hell of a loss, but damn, you got no choice.
Then, Congress passes legislation fully funding all those obligations, both state and federal. To fund that legislation they pass the Whiskey tax. You sold your scripts for three cents on the dollar, the speculator who bought them is now going to get the full dollar. What a fawking return for them. And where does that dollar come from, YOU. Whiskey is the best way to preserve your corn crop.
No damn wonder they all got pissed. The revolt was put down with a show of massive military force, led by Daniel Morgan, anyone know who that is? The commanding general, Henry Lee. Last name sound familiar?
History is a beautiful thing. The absolute irony here is compelling. Hamilton shot by Burr, a real traitor, but maybe Hamilton had it coming. His son was also killed in a duel and he had participated in damn near a dozen before he was killed. Morgan, Lee--just astounding.
