Americans traveling abroad resort to "Flag Jacking"

As some of us know, America's global reputation has gone straight down the crapper, and at incredible speed. And this is not just with governments who are our former friends and former allies. It applies to their citizens, too. Americans are no longer welcome in many places.

To deal with that, many Americans who are traveling abroad have turned to "appearing" to be Canadian as they travel.

So it's come to this. But you have to admit, it's a good idea! It's like you're a SPY!

A New Trend by American Travelers Is Sparking Frustration in Canada

From the article:

Some American tourists abroad have begun trying out a controversial tactic: pretending to be Canadian themselves. By adding maple leaf patches to their bags or clothing, they hope to pass as locals, but the trend is leaving many Canadians less than impressed.

The aim is to secure smoother treatment in airports, hostels, and restaurants where anti-American sentiment feels strong. This practice, called “flag jacking,” has recently resurfaced with renewed visibility.
The fantasies of you nutters is off the charts.

I lived overseas during the first Trump Presidency. No one is going to treat you differently because of the President.

"Now we're definitely earning it." You have.

The "ugly Americans" were the commie useful idiots who spat on returning soldiers. I've met quite a few yanks over the years; fly boys in Darwin and one in particular who was a Marine Sargent on duty with some Dutch outfit; top lads if I recall correctly. Met a Cherokee once; staunch conservative. Top shelf!!!

So who are these "uglies" you speak of?

Greg
You have always sounded like a Trump supporter, no matter where the hell you're from.

Naawww. Just TDS abroad.

That term that you think so hip ... comes from a 1958 book of the same name by William J. Lederer and Eugene Burdick.

In 1956, Chairman Mao coined the term "Paper Tiger" to describe the America he felt could be easily destroyed

"Yankee" has been a pejorative term for Americans by the British since 1784, by Lord Horatio Nelson.

Foreigners hate Americans for the same reason that teenagers hate parents ...

a combination of insecurity, inferiority, and immaturity.
Americans get a bad rap because they are loud, obnoxious, and self entitled

Acting like the country you are visiting is there to serve you kinda breeds resentment

HOw is this hate speech nonsense working out for you. re you getting more support or less? I suggest you see a DR and get prescribed Ativan. You world view will improve
Lol wut?

You’re trying to claim that people coming here to work (even if illegally entered) are the same as obnoxious self entitled tourists?

No. They don’t walk around with their chests puffed out demanding service

They clean your toilets and pick your fruit quietly

Does the Left ever get tired of apologizing for US greatness?

“Ugly American”
“What will the rest of the world think of US?”
“The rest of the world thinks we are the laughing stock”

I used to get angry at all of these statements until it was reaffirmed that the rest of the world owes US and continues to rely on US. Those arrogant Western European Elites don’t have the Military necessary to stand alone and protect itself. Whenever there is a major disaster in the World, it’s the US taking lead on rescue while the corrupt elite UN representatives are flown in to stay at 4 star resorts to “observe”.

I respect other cultures and histories but if any one of them cop me an attitude because America is not behaving the way they want US to, I am quick to remind the malcontents the debt of gratitude they owe US and that their nations depend on US more than we do them.

That is why we are the SuperPower and they are not.

Its a lie you just told, ya big goofball.
I challenged you to prove this”lie” and what did you respond with?

What do you think you are? A ******* jackass tourist? Yes that’s how they act

I have a lot of friends and family overseas. Their lives are far simpler, and (most importantly) they're far more contented, than the maniacs running around in the red hats.
