American Girl does a great job of empowering young girls. The problem is that they are expensive. Why doesn't Mattel create a line of dolls that sells for the price of Barbie that sends the same messages as American Girl? Is it because the big corporations want greedy consumers rather than empowered educated citizens?

Dolls don't empower girls.

You want your daughter to be empowered? Buy her traditional "boy" toys - model cars, Legos, little toolboxes... things that teach them how to build and fix things on their own.
