My Christian friends tell me the exact opposite. Since 1970's forward after Hezbollah and Hamas started infiltrating Lebanon from "Palestinian" areas it's gotten horrible. It used to be a wonderful place like any European beach or city but a little different....now it's crappy just like Palestinian areas with militant Muslims everywhere beating women for not wearing hijabs. As if Christian women ever would wear that sort of thing. So the Christians left in droves taking their money with them. Tourist dollars dried up. The place is an armpit no different than any other Muslim nation.

Considering the volume of blatant lies on the board lately....kinda hard to tell sarcasm/satire from someone blatantly lying with all seriousness to promote propaganda.

But yes....I was living in CA at the time when the Christians began to flee Lebanon....those who left were called turncoats and cowards because they left Lebanon. Kinda ostracized for leaving the persecution of militants.

But they just lead the pack in all reality. Now there's no one left. I hear there are a couple left behind....not enough to fill a church but just a few.

I am east coast----I grew up with Lebanese christians here and there in the 50s---
Generally they did something commercial with groceries and their kids
were in local colleges. In 1967 I was still an adolescent----the green grocer said to me regarding the ONGOING WAR----"Don't blame me---they hate me too"

Christians were about 60% until the mid 1950s. By 1967 another flood of Palestinian refugees were forced into Lebanon. AUB and The American Community School in Beirut were excellent. I used to love to visit friends, shop the gold souks and stay at the King George or the Phoenicia. We'd frequently see American movie stars in the hotels. It was quite international and the restaurants were great.

Haifa is still nice....it is Israel but still nice and pretty. Standing on Mt Carmel from Elijah's cave looking over towards the ocean....awesome view. There's been some attacks but Iron dome fixes that problem. The city streets winding up and down hill there are nice too.

Nope. Hezbollah was organic. Their mission was to keep Israel out of Lebanon. God knows Israel has been attacking Lebanon since 1950.

Lebanese restaurants are still fine----and their groceries----where christians and jews do their thing in the heart of "ARAB" enclaves It's kinda funny, In times of stress the youngsters working in the groceries and restaurants put on large crosses and in the window of a brave Syrian there was a sign "CLOSED ON SUNDAYS" (the week following 9-11-01----which was clearly a response to the other stores that had signs "closed friday morning for prayers")

Uhm---actually---If my memory is correct---Haifa looks over the Mediterranean and LEBANON. It is now a deserted mess. In order to "PROTECT LEBANON"--
Hezbollah has been bombing the area---agricultural villages, light manufacturing and desalination projects so incessantly that the local population has been evacuated. Two days ago, in order to PROTECT LEBANON from Israel Hezbollah bombed the milk cows.
