Meanwhile we kept my (at the time) 100 year old grandfather safe by limiting access until the shots came out, and he made it to 102, and didn't die of COVID. He died of "old" in his own bed, in his own house. just didn't wake up.

Well when my mom was over he masked, when I came over he just opened the windows and told me to tell my mother "we wore masks"

Again, he was a very lucky guy to have you and be able to be at home.

My poor MIL was living in her own apartment in a senior living building and they only allowed us in to see her about 3 times the entire year.

And the very few times we got in to see her she had to be sitting about ten feet away behind a clear screen and we had to wear masks. She was hard of hearing and the masks muffled our voices so much it was hard to communicate. She hated it, we all hated it but she survived another 3 years until she died at 96.

Very bad times.
