affordable housing lottery in NYC

What a deal! If you make at least $73,319 for a single person, you get to pay at least $173,801 for a one room studio in someone's building!!! :woohoo:
That mortgage will cost you about $300 a month.

That's less than a quarter of what a parking space costs anywhere in NYC.

This is fake news for the feel good Democrat nincompoops who love playing righteous. NYC is known for rigging trials. Does anyone really believe they are above rigging an affordable housing lottery? MAGA

Actually, I think it’s a GREAT idea. A single young woman earning $70,000 can buy a Manhattan studio in a great location near Central Park, and her monthly mortgage payment will be around $1400. It’s a great way for her to start building equity, and keep her housing payments low.

I did exactly that as a 20-something: I purchased a studio (they called it an executive one bedroom because they put walls around the sleeping alcove). The purchase price was around $60,000, and my salary at the time was around $28,000. That would be similar in real dollars as the above deal.

I lived in that studio for several years, after which I parlayed it into a purchase of a bigger, much nicer place. I now own a $750,000 upscale townhouse - which will be paid off in four years - and I owe the start to the purchase of the studio almost 40 years ago.

The deal being offered is a great one. I’d jump at it.

It’s still an excellent deal, but the mortgage will be around $1400.

I guess you have to love living in NY or a big city. From my time there:
  • Overcrowded
  • Unfriendly people.
  • Nowhere to park.
  • Can't get around by car.
  • High crime.
  • Expensive to live.

True, but if you have to live there, it’s a great deal.
