Or will she?

Since Congress has expessly refused to fund SNAP Benefits, and since the President has not yet used the SNAP contingency fund, a Boston judge, egged on by Democratic state politicians has decided that she will run the program herself.

How well will she do with that?

For one thing, her ruling will give many SNAP dependents hope. They will not bother to look for charitible organization, nor deign to go to food banks, or free cookouts sponsored by churches. Why should they? Democrat judge to the rescue!

So, let's hope it works out.

(CNN) — A federal judge in Boston indicated Thursday that she will intervene in a high-stakes fight over the Trump administration’s decision to not tap into billions of dollars in emergency funds to help cover food stamp benefits for tens of millions of Americans in November.

“Right now, Congress has put money in an emergency fund for an emergency, and it’s hard for me to understand how this isn’t an emergency when there’s no money and a lot of people are needing their SNAP benefits,” US District Judge Indira Talwani said near the end of a hearing, referring to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, the formal name for food stamps.

Well . . . yes. There is no money because Congress said no, and Congress appropriates spending for every government agency but one. Has this judge been on vacation for the last thirty days, and was not aware of the news?

It's hard for her to understand how this isn't an emergency? No one except the Democrats in Congress said it wasn't. Much harder for her to understand seems to be that we already have a person to manage things in an emergency, including deciding how to make the most judicious (no pun intended) use of any emergency funds previously provided by Congress.

Maybe she feels that judges are automatically much smarter than presidents, and obviously much, much smarter than the silly voters who choose them.

I hope so, because it will be a neat trick feeding so many people. 42 million is the number that is bandied about, so I'll go that. AI tells me that there is $6B in the fund, so I'll go with that. Other estimates are welcome, so long as backed up by links.

$6,000,000,000 divided by 42,000,000 comes out to $142.85 per person. (please check my math, I went to public school).

Remember the Democrats and "not Democrats" on here mocking the "hundred dollar gift card" that a generous person funded for our military? I predict zero mocking of this paltry sum as they cheer this judges "courage" in publicly opposing Donald Trump, which so few are willing to do.

Seems a happy little judicial dictator, anyway. I wonder how she'll feed to poor next month?

Where are the "No kings" protestors?

Something tells me that the SNAP dependentS, we'll be more upset by a hundred and forty two dollars, then they would be.If it were zero.

Well meaning grocery stores may put common SNAP purchase item on sale. Vanilla Dr. Pepper, Oreos and Flaming Cheetos we'll likely be discounted. But I doubt that will stop them from simply stealing the food by walking out with it.

No doubt Democrats and not Democrats, will say that "of course," food should be free. Just like clean water and healthcare. All are human rights and should never be dependent upon any type of labor, nor community service.

If Trump would actually do his job judges wouldnt have to tell him to do his job.

It is Trump's job to decide when and how any emergency funds get spent. Trump's, not Indira's.

How desperate that post sounds. It is Congress who is not doing its job which is to appropriate needed funds. They are being stymied by Democrats and "not Democrats" playing along with Schumer's attempt to save his own job by placating AOC.

No president in the history of shutdowns has done as much during a shutdown to give relief to its victims.

You forget that the Dems' and not Dems' purpose for the suffering is leverage. Trump paid the troops by shifting money around and your party or "not your party" attacked him for it. You mocked him for accepting a private donation for the troops.

But for SNAP dependents? Oh, he's not moving the money fast enough to suit a low level federal judge, so she has decided to nominate herself as the president's supervisor.

I'm sure that judge will draw a warning fom democrats in Massachusetts. Trying to give relief to the suffering weakens the democrats' leverage.

If she doesn't figure out a way to provide the permanent dependency class with their Chip Ahoy cookies and diet Sprite in December, will the democrats be protesting outside of her house?

Congratulations on your schooling.

Let me give you a little more.

The total net worth of the Forbes list of America's 400 richest is $6.2 trillion (up $1.2T in the last year alone). Half of that wealth would fund SNAP for 31 years. And it would still leave each of the 400 with an average worth of $7.75 billion.

What would Jesus do?

Class dismissed.

So? Most of that money is ownership in businesses and investments that are used to fund other businesses. You want half of those businesses shut down and sold for scrap to pay for people who are unwilling to work?
What would Jesus do?

Class dismissed.
Jesus never advocated theft to feed the poor, or for any other reason.

42 million americans almost starved to death, this was so close.

One proposal so that this never happens again is a program to move democrat voters to the backdoor of the democrats Household/Kitchens then the democrats can just throw their scrap food right out the door into the waiting open mouths of the tens of millions of starving americans.

Who gives a **** what Jesus would do? His message is stupid, ridiculous, and makes no sense.
