A good vehicle for Randolph Scott. And a traditional farners vs cattlemen struggle which is firmly on the side of the little guy.
I dont know any US film that is on the side of big business.. Maybe I missed one.

The story covers a wide range of topics such as the civil war and frontier living. The taming of the west and the rise of democratic structures, A top drawer cast including Lloyd Bridges and Edgar Buchanan.
Its worth a few hours of your time.
I like Randolph Scott. He made a lot of underrated westerns.

I do like Ride Lonesome and Comanche Station. Pretty much the same plot really. Ride the High Country is very good as well.
Ride the high country is another of my favorites. Coincidentally it was filmed in the area I live in. I love picking out recognizable landmarks while I watch it

He seemed to make a lot of his movies out in the desert. They all look spectacular. Strange to see one up in the hills.

Yeah. Back then all the studios had locations around the country. RKO had an office in Gallup nm. So did 20th century fox. Gallup was a major train stop, the old Harvey house la pasada is still there and capitolizes on the old movie stars who stayed there. From there, they could get to monument valley, which John Ford used as a location in a lot of movies. It is classic desert. They could get easily to places such as where I live, high desert chaparral type location. And they could get to Farmington for nice green lush locations.
Some other movies filmed in my area during that time are The Hallelujah Trail, a comedy western set in Denver. Ace in the hole, a modern tale about press manipulation of events.
Sadly, with the collapse of the trains as a major method of transport, the movie studios moved out of the area.

Havent seen Ace in the Hole for mny years.. Its a great film. It needs to be reissued.
I think many films need to be revived. People like Scott are virtually forgotten but I think we should remember them and their contribution to our culture.
I saw a pic of Rosalind Russell the other day but she is virtually unknpwn.. Maube I am just getting olld.

You and me both. Personally I don't like it. Being old is definitely overrated
