In a Republic, actually
‘This week, Donald Trump falsely accused Ukraine of starting a war against a much larger neighbor, inviting invasion and mass death. At this point, Trump—who has a history of trusting Russian President Vladimir Putin more than he trusts the Americans who are sworn to defend the United States—may even believe it. Casting Ukraine as the aggressor (and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “dictator,” which Trump did today) makes political sense for Trump, who is innately deferential to Putin, and likely views the conflict as a distraction from his own personal and political agendas. The U.S. president has now chosen to throw America to Putin’s side and is more than willing to see this war end on Russian terms.

Repeating lies, however, does not make them true.

Russia, and specifically Putin, launched this war in 2014 and widened it in 2022. The information and media ecosystem around Trump and the Republican Party has tried for years to submerge the Russian war against Ukraine in a sump of moral relativism, because many in the GOP admire Putin as some sort of Christian strongman. But Putin is making war on a country that is mostly composed of his fellow Orthodox Christians, solely based on his own grandiose fantasies.’

A terrible milestone and a terrible president; with his lies Trump returns to coddling dictators and attacking allies – in this case Ukraine.

Elect a clown...get a circus.

There was a peace deal on the table in Constantinople, and Tenpercentskyy insanely walked away from it.

But let's not let nagging little facts like that get in the way of....

Putin is to blame. He had his reasons which are flimsy at best, especially considering he already took land during Obamas reign.

That said, Ukraine has never been a bastion of freedom and Western intelligence agencies have to distinguish clearly between "ally" and "national interests".

The truth is, America doesn't have many allies, very few. An ally that shared values of freedom and due process? Canada is hardly a qualifier. England? Mexico?

This is where I disagree with Trump who is more transactional than "values based", which is why I really like his choice of Vance after hearing him speak out about these values. His speech in Europe was an instant classic that will be viewed a billion times before the end of the year. Rubio loves liberty and is a Reagan conservative, as Trump is for the most part.

Ultimately, whether Canada, Ukraine or Germany, America has to say "here are your problems, you do NOT support civil liberties as we do and you MUST if you wish to be a close ally of America"

This would be akin to Trump making peace in the world, he would be saving the hopes and dreams of millions by making government actually give a damn. Believe it, America has a hell of a lot of power to influence allies to be better stewards to their citizens.

Elect a clown...get a circus.
The only clown and circus is you liberal Democrats. Such a liar. You guys don't even try to hide it anymore. You aren't for democracy. You are for bureaucracy. Total control bureaucracy. Thank you President Trump and chairman Musk for peeling off the disguise Democrats have used for so long saying they are for democracy. Nope, bureaucracy.

You do realize that your blob created another agency (aka bureaucracy) to--thus far--do nothing except make unproven allegations of fraud...right?

Of course you don't. Enjoy your cult shit brains.

Such stupidity. How can you even move your arms and legs with that brain of yours. Shrinking the size of departments and eliminating others is not enlarging bureaucracy. Quite the opposite. Especially eliminating those who think they should be able to write laws into laws Congress created. That's bureaucracy, not democracy. Unelected employees of Departments making laws and rules that are followed or forced to pay fines they make and/or jail time. Trump is elected by a majority who demand that he cut out the fat from government. It's you that wants unelected people to make laws and rules. Bureaucracy, not Democracy.

You do realize that your blob created another agency

OH NO! The BLOB has created an AGENCY!

Is it still too late for me to switch my vote to the useless word salad BJ whore who never once visited the border she was in charge of who now is managed by a Hollywood entertainment agency? :ack-1:

Putin is to blame.
Putin didn't start the war. The Obama administration & Joe Biden started the war in Ukraine by staging a coup against the legitimate democratically elected government of Ukraine and replaced it with their corrupt puppets.

Biden is to blame, not Putin.

Everybody in Ukraine already knew that because a recording of the phone call that proved it was leaked just a few weeks before the U.S. staged coup occurred.

That said, I am curious as to how you came to the conclusion that Putin is somehow to blame.

That was not a coup. The great majority of Ukrainians approved of the action.

Trump has now stabbed freedom in the back.

We had inspectors general who could have done that already. But instead, your blob created another department that has done nothing except make allegations thus far.

That statement made zero sense.

Wake me when DOGE brings suits against anyone.

That much is true. Its a shame you can't see that he's actually expanded it. Let me ask you a question. Do you think your blob will add to the deficit by 2028 or reduce the deficit?

No, he repurposed one that already existed, idiota.

After all these years, you still totally suck at this. :laugh2:

How I came to the conclusion Putin is to blame?

Is this some parody account?

I don't know, many the lining of 100,000 soldiers and hundreds of tanks and drones firing first into Ukraine and rolling into their territory had something to do with it,

What's your excuse for Putin taking Crimea by the way? That was, when, 2014?

Funny how Russia renewed its 2014 aggression on 24 Feb 2022 just a few days after VP Harris suggested the Ukraine become part of NATO on 18 Feb 2022.

Diplomacy is a wonderful thing if you know how to utilize it but sending a cackling hen who can barely string a cohesive thought together isn't something to brag about.

It was not his best moment that's for sure. His brain goes too fast and he gets toomloose with his language, provides.brevity where more details are needed. He could have said, "before Putin invaded such and suc happened, then there was this and that potential avenue to avoid war and so much death", instead he just goes for the bullseye without defining it more clearly. the next time he takes questions he should treat it as a debate question he prepared and answer for and expand on what he meant. He will never retract his statements or admit a slip up (or he rarely does),but he can be more specific.

‘Mr. Trump on Tuesday mimicked Russian propaganda by claiming Ukraine had started the war with Russia and that Kyiv is little better than the Kremlin because it hasn’t held a wartime election. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky replied on Wednesday that Mr. Trump was living in a “disinformation space,” which may have been imprudent but was accurate.

Mr. Trump escalated on Wednesday, as he usually does, calling Mr. Zelensky a “dictator,” and suggesting Ukraine’s leader snookered the U.S. into supporting a war “that couldn’t be won, that never had to start.” Mr. Zelensky “refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden ‘like a fiddle.’” It’s tempting to dismiss this exchange as mere rhetoric, but it has the feel of political intention for Mr. Trump. He may be trashing Ukraine’s democracy to make voters think there’s no real difference between the Kremlin and Kyiv. He may think this will make it easier to sell a peace deal that betrays Ukraine.

We doubt most Americans will overlook his false moral equivalence. Mr. Putin’s war of conquest started three years ago this month when Russian troops rolled over the border and tried to capture Kyiv. The war began not because Mr. Putin had legitimate security fears—but because the aging former KGB agent wants to reassemble most of the Soviet empire he saw crumble as a young man. Ukraine has delayed elections while it is operating under martial law and fighting a war for survival. Its constitution allows this, and Britain under Nazi siege didn’t hold an election during World War II. Was Churchill a dictator?’

Was Churchill a dictator?

No, he wasn’t – and neither is President Zelensky.

Trump is a wannabe despot and dictator, a Putin useful idiot, and fascist thug.

I don't give a shit about Ukraine. Zero. Why have we spent $350 billion (much of it stolen or wasted)? Can anyone give me a legitimate reason why I or any American should care?
