A Mississippi police officer shot 1-year-old Kohen Kartier Wiley while responding to a shoplifting call on Sunday, killing him and critically wounding an adult.

The June 14 shooting involved officers from the Senatobia Police Department and the Tate County Sheriff’s Department. The officer shot Wiley while he was inside a silver sedan in the parking lot of a Walmart.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety released a statement on June 14, alleging that the shooting happened in response to one of two subjects driving “in the direction of” officers. A clip of cellphone video obtained by Fox 13 Memphis shows a car driving away from officers, but it does not appear to show the shooting itself. A photo of the car shows multiple bullet holes in the windshield, including a bullet hole on the passenger side of the front windshield.

Notably, the DPS statement appears to acknowledge that police witnessed the presence of Kohen Wiley prior to the individuals entering their vehicle, and before the officer discharged the weapon. The officer has not been identified."

Poor little guy never stood a chance with him being taken on a crime spree. The Democrats love to use incidents like this for political gain.
Will this be the incident they use to riot all summer?

When is this kind of garbage going to stop. What is happening in our 'so-called' society. That poor little guy didn't do anything to deserve this outcome. I don't know the particulars or who was responsible and I'm not going to try to second guess but it is a shame that the most innocent among us is the victim. SMH

If there's a lesson to be learned here, it's "Don't jeopardize your kid's lives by taking them on your crime spree."

The shoplifting adults should be charged with felony murder.

I am sick of people thinking that cops won't use their weapons if there are kids in the picture. If hostile fire is being returned, the cop might not be charged if an innocent life were to be taken in the process. In other words, it all begins with why they are called to any scene in the first place.

God bless you and those in uniform and every spared innocent person always!!!

I agree.

Hopefully, everyone will wait until more details get released. One thing I don't get is why no one's been charged with shoplifting?

The parents should be charged with the murder, not the police.

I ask what law and your answer is law? Common sense is not a law. Try a statute.
Fair enough. I am sure, however, exposing children to danger is a form of extreme neglect. That would be common sense.

Would you take your young child with you if you were committing a crime? Would you feel remorse if your own child was harmed or killed by doing so?
