A sad thing I have seen in my nation

So, as many of you know, Gay Marriage has been a topic that has had a lot of attention, and public outburst. Their have been riots for, and against it. I personally, am against Gay Marriage, but for Civil Unions. That is my view, but I, as a Christian, also have to say this to my fellow Christians out there.

I advise you do not participate in riots against homosexuals. They are negative, and they do not create anything but negative responses and negative acts. Why do it? I honestly hate having to say this, but I might be a young Christian, and I do not consider myself anything close to a dedicated Christian, but I can tell hypocrisy when I see it.

In the Bible, it says: Matt. 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged." Yes, I understand this is used a lot, but maybe for good cause. I use it to say this, if your going to attack homosexuals for wanting more rights, can we really complain when they attack back? How can a man complain if he throws a rock at someone, and they throw a rock back?

What is the basic idea of my Thread? Christians, I do not say support Gay Marriage, oppose it if you believe you should, but do not help ignorance & arrogance become the general conception of Christians. I have been to places where if you say "I'm a Christian" they look at you and slowly get out of the social area. Then I have been to places where "I'm a Christian" gets you a pat on the back, and a "How about them homosexuals?" (They used a different term.) You know what? The first is a example of how the second affects non-Christians, and other Christians.

I am sorry for ranting, just felt like I should at least post this to see if I can find anyone who sees this the same way I do. Sorry if I sound insane, I've been up all night on this new computer lol. Merry Christmas Everyone, and drive safe please :).

Because gay activists DEMAND access to indoctrinate our children when and if they gain gay marriage. That's HUGE.

Because homosexuality is just one more step on the road to self destruction.

I'm not saying to put up profane protest signs like I've seen, but we do need to protect our children and when we don't, God sees. If you think He doesn't care, guess again.

Love the homosexual, hate the sin. We're all sinners and "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

No proposals this week HG?

No I just don't believe in marriage, its an outdated institution like the horse and buggy.

God's blessing on two people committing themselves one to the other that their children will grow up with both a mom and a dad is outdated?

Should I be buying stock in anti-HIV drugs and herpes ointments?

Look at the divorce rates in this country, kids are growing up in homes without both parents anyways. Being single is way more fun and less stressful than being married.

Christians know their religion is a violent and hateful one, so to hide their shame they pretend they are defending themselves. Because their own faith is so weak, they know that their children will ignore their parents hypocritical values as soon as they learn the truth about the superiority of gay culture over heterosexual culture

Gay parents don't worry about their children being exposed to the religious because gay parents know how to pass on their values effectively. Christians worry about their childrens' belieifs because they know that even their own children have trouble believing in the violence and hatred (not to mention the pedophilia) that christianity promotes

And what about Limbaugh's multiple childless marriages? Were all of them also blessed by your Idiot God?

Government should only issue civil union permits if they have any say at all.

I believe in God's blessings too Jen, but that does not really factor into this debate. In all 50 states, none of the laws reference religion as a requirement or even a factor. The only modest concession the marriage laws make to religion is that a licensed minister can sign on on the marriage as can a judge or justice of the peace or similar civil authority, but no ceremony of any kind is required.

Those who are religious can and do add a religious ceremony or other factor as an additional layer to the process, but a religious ceremony makes the marriage no more legal or acknowedged than does going down to the city court to ask an authorized official to sign the license.

Again the purpose of marriage is 1) to protect the children in various ways and 2) to encourage stability and prosperity in the community.

Yes single and unwed mothers or fathers have done good jobs of rearing their children, but that does not change the fact that the child benefits most from having a loving mother and father in the home.

Yes many marriages do not produce children, but that does not change the fact that marriage laws are designed with the idea in mind that children could be a result and the children should have certain protections.

Yes there are many affluent neighborhoods consisting of singles, unmarried couples, gay couples etc., and no doubt some married people are living in poverty, but that does not change the fact that on average the best chance children have to enjoy a better quality of life and escape poverty is via the traditional family.

Many gay and heterosexual people do need some way to form family units that provide necessary protections and are universally recognized, but that should be accomplished through a new law called something different than marriage because it will be something different than marriage and will be designed with different emphasis in mind.

And before somebody says 'separate but unequal', don't even go there. Anybody, and I do mean ANYBODY, can then choose marriage or civil unions, whichever fits their choice of lifestyle better. (Civil unions would not need all the rules and regs built into marriage laws in order to protect the children, however.)

I don't have an idiot god so I don't know what you speak of. My God is majestic and holy, His power and presence cannot be comprehended by man, nor can His love for those who would call Him names.

If Michael Jackson asked God to bless his marriage, I would imagine God did. What Jackson did to that marriage after that is not God's fault.

It's hard for me to understand why we sin and then ask why God allows it...would you rather He was a tyrant and forced us to behave?

Did God bless my marriage to my SECOND husband who then cheated on me over and over and over again? I would think yes. God also gave my second husband the freewill to honor that marriage or not.

God gives us choice, we sin, He forgives and calls us back to Him. Still we blame Him. Then He graciously allows those of us that asked, into heaven and those left behind stuck in the sin demand entrance as well, or dis God because He doesn't allow those who don't seek Him and ask.

You want your sin and you want to take it with you into heaven. It just won't happen. We can't blame God for allowing sin and then blame Him for not allowing us to take it with us.

Thanks Foxfyre, yes I realize we can get married without God, but I don't know what that is. Like you said, it's a legal document, and civil unions do the same. So to me, 'marriage' is more than civil unions because of God. But I do realize that's not how most see it. Thanks for the clarification.

Lol HG, I've been down the road you talk about, less restrictions, more "fun" or so it seems. But you pay for it in the long run. When you finally do meet the love of your life, it's hard to drop all the baggage you've accumulated from all the other commitments you made and broke.

I never got a disease but I got a surprise pregnancy. And I don't regret that son one bit, but I would have preferred to have given him a stable home with me than the choices I made.

Many people do get diseases HG, and that's not what God intended for us. Nor the broken homes or the kids crying so much because they miss their dads. That's not what God intended. Something spiritual happens when you sleep with someone, even Elaine and Jerry on Seinfeld figured that one out when they realized they couldn't sleep together and still be platonic friends.

I had fun like you said, HG, and my kids paid for it. And that I very much regret.

So another idiot christian can't defend their own faith because they don't know it. This wingnut thinks God blessed Michael Jacksons' "marriage" to Priscilla Presley. The "proof" that MJ's marriage was blessed is "If MJasked for it, then God did it"

This moron christian actually believes that God does whatever He is asked to do.:lol::lol:

God doesn't bless the marriages of christians because christians have proven that they are too perverted and immoral for the responsibilities of marriage. 50% of all christian marriages end up in divorce because christians are so horny, they will abandon their children so they can have sex with people who are not a parent of their children.

God didn't bless your marriage because God, who is omniscient, KNOWS that christians like you and your hubbie cant handle the responsibilities

That's impossible advice for most christians to follow. That's why the Bible Belt states have higher rates of teen pregnancy

I am not for gay "marriage", but that is a state issue and the states should decide. If gay couples want to have a "marriage" move to a state that allows them.

So you think god is interested in flesh and animalistic sex with others while married? I assume he is interested in the soul, if he is even interested at all. I think christians try to give themselves way too much credit and importance in life, instead of just enjoying it. What the hell are they going to do on streets paved in gold?? Sounds like some capitalist BS to me!!

No. Christians must think Jesus was interested in extramarital sex. Why else would they abandon their spouses and their children so they can have sex with other people?
