Years ago a ten person Christmas would have been filled with conversation and laughter. This Christmas I noted silence after a big meal while everyone worked on their own personal electronic devices. It's a shame but it's a sign of the times.

Today, during the holiday gatherings, you have to collect all cell phones at the door and only return them after dinner or when departing.
If they won't agree to this they only came to snarf up the food...(unless they're a doctor, first responder or Elon Musk)

Can't do it realistically. I actually had complaints that my (rural) modem wasn't fast enough. Best bet is a liter of Jim Beam and a good book.
