A new source of potential renewable energy

Today we get a lot of useful energy by fermentation


Fermentation is a metabolic process that produces chemical changes in organic substrates through the action of enzymes. it may more broadly refer to any process in which the activity of microorganisms brings about a desirable change to a foodstuff or beverage. The science of fermentation is known as zymology.

Anaerobic digestion
is a sequence of processes by which microorganisms break down biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen.] The process is used for industrial or domestic purposes to manage waste or to produce fuels.

The above process produces alcohol

In chemistry, an alcohol is a type of organic compound that carries at least one hydroxyl functional group (−OH) bound to a saturated carbon atom.

The above process is not the “only” method used to produce useful fuel.

A herbivore is an animal anatomically and physiologically adapted to eating plant material.


A large percentage of herbivores have mutualistic gut flora. This flora is made up of cellulose-digesting protozoans or bacteria.

Gut microbiota are the microorganisms, including bacteria and archaea, that live in the digestive tracts of vertebrates including humans, and of insects.

The gastrointestinal metagenome (sometimes defined as the microbiome) is the aggregate of all the genomes of gut microbiota.

99% of gut bacteria come from about 30 or 40 species. Bacteria also make up to 60% of the dry mass of feces. Over 99% of the bacteria in the gut are anaerobes, but in the cecum, aerobic bacteria reach high densities. It is estimated that the human gut microbiota have around a hundred times as many genes as there are in the human genome.

When you mow your lawn, this cut grass as well as fallen trees and other plant matter could be transferred to a plant matter digestive center.

The above could open the door to a new renewable energy source that can sustain our needs for as long as plants continue to grow on this planet.

Just a suggestion

Maybe, maybe not but still worth a look and see

People have been making alcohol, burning wood, and harnessing the gas from and burning poop, and other things for a very long time.

Yet our illustrious educated think they're discovered something new.

The point I am trying to make and doing a very poor job of it is looking at other ways to produce useful energy. Herbivore’s get their energy from eating plants. This source of energy can support the life of an elephant.

A herbivore is an organism that mostly feeds on plants. Herbivores range in size from tiny insects such as aphids to large, lumbering elephants. Herbivores are a major part of the food web, a description of which organisms eat other organisms in the wild.

The digestive system in herbivores can convert plant material into a form of sugar. This is done my bacteria and yeasts in the stomach of these animals.

There are a few unique types of fungus that can break down organic matter into useful energy.
Yeast is a unicellular organism, also known as a single-celled organism, is an organism that consists of a single cell, unlike a multicellular organism that consists of multiple cells. Organisms fall into two general categories: prokaryotic organisms and eukaryotic organisms.

If we can find a way to convert plant matter into sugars then we can then use this to produce energy; then we will have found a new source of energy.
Just remember, most of the plant matter is wasted. We get corn but the stalk is wasted. This applies to a large number of plant matter that is wasted that could possibly be used as an energy source rather than burning it.

Elephants eat up to 16 hours a day.

If we can find a way to convert plant matter into sugars then we can then use this to produce energy; then we will have found a new source of energy.

You want us to harvest huge amounts of plant matter and transport it long distances to a location that will convert it into useful energy? Will we be planting this material or harvesting wild material? Will we need fertilizer and insecticides? Irrigation?

The main problem as I see it is that the raw materials can be used for better purposes ... why ferment something that we can electrolyze ... and why electrolyze something that can be eaten ... just another First World solution to a Third World problem ... i.e. is this a good fit in Bessarabia? ... No, it isn't, so why bring it up? ... you're taking food out of a baby's mouth to run your damn A/C ...

We should EAT the corn ... and BURN the sugar inside us ... and use the energy to PEDAL a bicycle ... works in England, works in Moldovia ... works even better in China ... the only losers here is lazy fat Americans ...
