Wow and your still alive? What are the odds!I never owned an automobile that I had to pump the gas underneath the plate. Just on the side(s). I did however own several Ford Pintos........

I still miss thatAnd the dimmer switch in upper left corner of floorboard.
The old three on the column with manual steering and brakesI’m Gen X and I rememebr manual transmissions with gear shifter on the steering column.
I still remember being aggravated because it took so damn long to pump $5.00 in gas, and I had to pee so bad till I didn't know if I would make it to that bathroom on the outside of the station.See photo below.![]()
she has hip dysplasia now.Seeing that pic, I have a sudden urge to pump from behind.
Me too. These new fangled cars are complicated computers on wheels and trying to remember what all the buttons and switches and programs on the console do and/or are for is beyond the patience of a lot of us old timers. And I hate fiddling with all the rotating switches on the levers protruding from the steering column not knowing for sure which do what or what I'm messing up. Including the dimmer switch.Damn, CA prices were high back then too.
I miss on the floor dimmer switches.
We used to go camping by ourselves at that age. Grab a tent and sleeping bag, hot dogs, cigarettes and a Playboy magazineRiding my bicycle 15 miles to the River, floating with friends at 12 years old, returning safely to Mom and Pop.
Asking ..... "How was my day."
circa 1974
In 1995 I moved from Connecticut to Georgia, Atlanta. The price of 89 in Connecticut was $1.21 a gallon and I thought the price would be higher in the big city, but when I arrived I found it was 85 cents in Atlanta. The lowest price I saw for 89 that year was 79 cents. Considering the cheapness of gasoline and ammo (a 500 pack of .22 caliber was $10) a trip to a shooting range 50 miles away in the woods was practically free.Damn, CA prices were high back then too..
