In a Republic, actually
‘J. Harvie Wilkinson, a well-respected and deeply conservative judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, wrote about the plight of Kilmar Garcia, who was mistakenly deported by the Trump administration last month. Despite court orders, the administration refuses to lift a finger to right that grievous wrong.

Pointing out its defiance of an order from the Supreme Court, Wilkinson reminded his readers that “the rule of law…(is) vital to the American ethos.” And he noted that Garcia’s case presents a “unique chance to vindicate that value and to summon the best that is within us while there is still time.”

Time, Wilkinson warned, is running out on American democracy. His words call on his colleagues on the Supreme Court, Republican members of Congress, business leaders, law firms, universities, and citizens to demand Garcia’s return and stand up to the almost daily abuses of power by the Trump administration.’

What’s remarkable to consider is that with Trump’s reckless, irresponsible rush to authoritarianism, he squandered an opportunity to make significant – albeit dangerous and wrongheaded – change in American policy and governance; an opportunity conservatives will never see again.

With Republicans in control of Congress, with a Supreme Court dominated by conservative ideologues hostile to settled, accepted precedent, and with Democrats denied access to the levers of power, Trump could have implemented much of the P25 agenda via the legislative process, measures enacted that would survive legal challenges the benefit of that Supreme Court dominated by conservative ideologues.

But because of Trump’s arrogance and stupidity, because of his racism, bigotry, and hate, and because of his contempt for the rule of law, Trump has turned most of the country against him and alienated likely political allies in Congress and the courts.

Trump, Trump, Trump. You assign no responsibility to Biden who opened the border illegally to a surge of foreign invaders. These people were illegally allowed entry and, if we are to believe Mayorkas, listed in a data base. That data base is proof of illegal entry and should be all that is needed to return the invaders to the country they came from. That is the epitome of arrogance and violation of existing law.

Donald Trump is like every Private company business executive I have ever worked for ,they like to push the line and ride the line of what they can get away with. You just have to know where to draw that line and take a stand with them.:)

"Conservative Judge" is an Oxymoron....

WTF is wrong with Republican judges that we can’t find a single one who will order Mayorkas deported to El Salvador?!

Whenever a leftwinger calls someone 'deeply respected', he's usually a lefty. This guy clerked for leftwing Democrat justice Powell, taught at leftwing UVa, opposed prayer at board meetings. He did rule against PBA, however.

LOL, I wonder if "deeply respected" is a Freudian slip for "respected by those deeply mired in the swamp."
