1. No matter what one may feel about a certain race, there is simply no excuse for that statue and especially for those patronizing words about "faithful slaves."

2. This is 2024, but apparently some authorities in the South have not yet gotten the word.

We have to remember the mindset of numerous southerners. They continue to consider the Civil War to be, "the great disappointment."
If these same people had their way and the south had won the war, they could still buy and sell humans like livestock.

The destruction of statues is a western phenomenon meaning It simply does not exist or occur in the eastern world. Statues of tribal kings or emperors in Africa exist all over Africa. So it’s a really upsetting phenomenon to see this occur in the west in regards to the illegal destruction of statues of people owning slaves.

Secondly, Civil War have long been part of world history. In the case of the USA it’s very important to recall that many of the confederate soldiers were one time members of the US military. They fought their own family members in some cases, brother versus brother, father versus son. So that kind of thing should be respected and talked about from a historical perspective. Neither side was evil. Neither side were traitors.

It has now warped into a small but violent mob of people destroying private/public property…or demanding ridiculous things like reparations payments for descendants of black slaves in the USA , even though all of us white or black are descendants of slaves and slave owners.
