Only if the shyster thinks he's going to win something, the lawyer probably thought the case had "nuisance" value, particularly if it was pending at the time of the man's death and the heir wanted to settle the estate.

The picture of the guy in your link is not 87. There is another story about three teens who were killed in a home invasion, and he was an older man, I remember he killed all three and fired 28 rounds in total.

It's already been decided that he is not guilty and that he is to get $50,000 from the lady who sued him? If you need a good defense lawyer, the one that he scored is the one to go to.

P.S. For the record, I am on the man's side. He had every right to do what he did. He couldn't do what was being done to him due to his age and his being outnumbered, but he of course knew something that the intruders didn't know and that was where a gun was in the house.

The first court case should have been dismissed before it was even started. We shouldn't be clogging up our courts with that nonsense.

Years ago I read a story where this guy robs a bank at gunpoint. He runs out the door followed by the guard at the bank, who happened to me moonlighting from his job being a police officer. Somehow the robber gets shot and dies while fleeing. His mother sues, claiming that her son was only there to rob the bank and had no intention of harming anyone with his loaded gun, and shouldn't have died just for robbing a bank. Fortunately, that case was dismissed before it ever got to the courts.
